Clinical cause? I think you're barking up the wrong tree there matey. After all, whats the clinical cause for liking blue, or hating the taste of sprouts?
Some people are gay. That's pretty much it I think. If years of scientists and sociologists haven't found a definitive reason, you sure ain't gonna get one on here!

There have been a lot of ideas put forth, but a scientific/clinical cause for homosexuality has never been discovered. I might ask you what the scientific/clinical cause of heterosexuality might be.
We homosexuals are the way we are because we were born this way, and most psychiatrists and psychologists will agree with this. Just because we have a same-gender attraction doesn't mean there's something wrong with us. And you should know as well that we do not choose to be homosexual. Who would ever choose for a life of being disrespected and shunned? The people who say we choose this "lifestyle" are dead wrong. And also being homosexual goes far beyond any type of sexual activity in which we might engage.

99% of all homosexuals will tell you they were born that way and will say all this talk of recruitment is so much garbage - sure, some might be repressed and come out of the closet late and it may appear to outsiders that they were "turned", but they might also be bi- and maybe not do anything about it; or do it once and never again (it is commonly believed that as many as 1/3rd of all males have done it once, quite often near the beginnings of puberty).
Those scientists in the "born that way" camp (as opposed to those who think it is enviromentally shaped, either totally or in part) still do not know whether that is because it is 100% genetic or if partially stress-induced when in the mother's womb. The verdict is still out, but someone's going to win the Nobel prize for figuring it out.

Well there hasn't been a gene discovered for homosexuality, so basically your options are nature vs. nurture. Some believe that homosexuality is caused by the experiences of a person. Others believe that people are just born that way. That answer hasn't been validated yet.

If I remember A & P well, it was theorized then that the size of the hypothalamus varied in homosexual men: women have a hypothalamus about 50% smaller than men, and it seems that the hypothalami of homosexual men more closely resemble the hypothalamus size of women. It's only a theory and a few years old at that. I don't know what came of the study or whether it has been replicated.

The results of studies on identical twins have found that homosexuality and heterosexuality are the result of hormones introduced during pregnancy. (Identical twins begin as one egg that splits and develops two babies, so their DNA is identical.) Studies have also shown that homosexuals have the same reactions to same-sex hormones as heterosexuals have to opposite-sex hormones. For example, if a homosexual male and a heterosexual female both smell the perspiratoin of another male, they will both have physical arousal hormone responses.
So homosexuality isn't because someone is bad. It isn't "bad" genes. And it isn't a choice. It's a part of nature. Did you know that, in most mammals, a certain percentage are homosexual? Homosexuality is most common among male elephants and dolphins.

okay here is the real deal. there is two parts of homosexuality: hormonal, and personal descision. when people are "gay", they usually have a hormonal imbalance aka if your a guy you have more female hormones, thus making you attracted to males instead of females. but really, you can try to work on it mentally. this isnt meant to be religious, but there is a reason why God made male and female. a male and female are spos to be together lol. so you can make your own descision to be homosexual or not. just remember that males {physically} arent meant to be together. {this answer wasnt meant to be mean, sorry if i came across mean}

I think I read once that in lesbians, a large percentage of them actually had a part of their brain that was different than other females. It was only a section of the brain, I can't remember which part, but there was conclusive evidence that it was indeed different. It didn't state any evidence concerning male homosexuality though.

A number of reports of variations in brain structure correspond to sexual orientation. In 1990, Swaab and Hofman reported a difference in the size of the suprachiasmatic nucleus between homosexual and heterosexual men. In 1992, Allen and Gorski reported a difference related to sexual orientation in the size of the anterior commissure.
