I think that you should include food & water bowls, maybe some carpet cleanser (if the kitty has any accidents in it's new home), a litter box & scoop, definitely a bag of whatever food you've been feeding it so it doesn't get an upset tummy from changing diets and maybe pay for the vaccinations (if the cat isn't already up to date on shots). Also, giving a "gift certificate" for spay or neuter is a really good idea to whoever said that earlier. You could give some toys if the kitten already has a favorite one or two but most people really enjoy shopping for their pets so I would let the new owner buy the fun stuff like toys, collars, & beds.

you should put some thing in there for your kitten that your giving away some thing with its mothers scent on it like a small blanket that the mother was sleeping on so the kitten feels secure some toys to show the kitten not to scared and suggest that the kitten should come over to see its mother time to time so the kitten still has a connection with its mother

Scratching posts, for sure! Maybe one of those tall ones that has a box at the top for the cat to sleep in.

A "gift" certificate to have the kitten spayed or neutered at the appropriate time, from a veterinary office or a humane society clinic.
