Souds like a "normal" weight but your weight doesn't really mean a whole lot as far as being healthy for the most part.
I'm glad you have decided to exercise in a safe way but don't think you need to cut down on how much food you're eating unless you consume alot more calories than you should be. It would help you to be healthier to drink plenty of water especially since your being more active. Water helps you digest your food properly and helps you get the good nutrients you need from it. You may just feel out of shape because of jiggly body parts or a bulging stomache or whatever.... You may just need to tone up a bit.

Toned muscle weighs more than fat or un-toned muscle. I am only 5' 5" and had weighed 160lbs and was a size 8 (US)for many years as I was in top shape from being a sport nut and having grown up riding horses for all my life. But back since about 7months ago I have been very ill and unable to be very active so I now weigh 130lbs and am a size 6 and even though I wear a smaller size than I used to, I concider myself "fatter" than I was because my body isn't nicely ripped and toned like I was used to. The weight loss I experianced was from muscle loss and doesn't make me healthier than I was by far. I think it's so much more important to be in good athletic shape than to go by a persons weight or clothing size.
In the end though if you're happy with yourself and are medically in no risk because of your weight then I would say don't count nubers on a scale or compare dress sizes with anyone!

Good Luck to you!

Sorry I'm a Yank I guess we're called...what's 10 stone? Being overweight is definitely unhealthy, but creating stress over it is just as harmful. Even people with the best bodies worry about these things sometimes - if you really do swim and walk daily and are watching your diet, you're doing the best you can and should be proud of that. You should try weight training also, it's a better calorie burner than most people think. Don't forget that change will come gradually and not to give up. If you can enjoy exercise for it's own sake and not as it relates to your weight, that'll help keep you going strong, too. Oh wait I just read the other posts 10 stone is 140lbs? And you're 5'11? Are you kidding me???? Sounds like you need to eat more, not less!!!

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

It doesn't sound like you're overweight. Kudos to you on your exercise program - I'd be proud if I exercised even half as much as you!

I'm a little concerned about your diet, though. Are you eating a balanced diet, good quality food with lots of fruits and veggies? Your body needs a certain amount of food as fuel, period, and you needn't feel guilty about that.

I'm also concerned about your saying that you feel ugly and fat. Have you seen a doctor? A doctor should be able to look at your height, weight, and health practices and either reassure you or make recommendations.

Best of luck!

If I am correct that 10 stone - 140 lbs, then you are not only not fat you are a little under-weight. I'm 5'10 and weight 150 lbs, which according to every chart I have seen is a normal weight. You are 1 inch taller and 10 lbs lighter then me. YOUR FINE!!!!!! Stop obsessing :)

No, you are not overweight! You are tall, and probably have larger bones than some short people. Also, muscle weighs more than fat, so the number on the scale doesn't mean a whole lot.

Gosh, don't be so silly. You are not obese, you are not even overweight. I just calculated your BMI and guess what.....you are what would be considered the ideal weight for your height. And haven't you ever heard of the phrase; a perfect 10! Honestly, you are fine, you just take care of yourself, but you don't need to be losing any weight now. Please don't worry! HTH : )

No. You're tall and that's a healthy weight. Feel good about yourself. To feel even better, why don't you complement your running and swimming with yoga or weight training? You'll build lean muscle, which will eventually consume calories and you'll feel and look even better.
