Do you only agree with the idea of love and acceptance when the person belives the same way you do and follows your religion? I always approve of free thinking. Even religious thinking if thats what you really want even tho I totally disagree with it. The problem is most religious people blindly follow their religion without giving anything else a chance and letting themselves grow and learn.

I could care less what anyones else believes if it does not affect me in a negative way.
The way I look at things, I don't believe in god, does that colour my morality, nope. I don't shoot people down for there beliefs unless they use it as a rational to harm others, which is so often the case.
I personally believe my beliefs are my own, feel free to challenge them, it does not bother me. If you want to be a "Jedi" or a fundamentalist Southern Baptist(which I was) it is entirely up to you.
I just happen to think my belief system is more moral and more rational.

There may very well be a god, but I highly doubt he or she is affilliated with any of the major religions. When you get right down to it, how can they all be right and how can they say they are more right then me.

Sure! Some of the best free thinking ever comes from my 3 year old. Keeps me rolling on the floor laughing =)

Seriously, free thinking is fine, it's when it translates into free acting that there's a problem. Like "hey, wouldn't it be cool if there were only blonde-haired, blue eyed people in the world? let's go build some gas chambers!"

But this is probably a loaded question, huh? What did I fail to take into account?

How the Jesus Myth was created

First of all, you have to realize that Jesus was a composite of different entities and the name was chosen several hundred years later at the Council of Nicea, wherein the entity Constantine ordered the various religious sects to come together and create a single religion for Rome, a Universal religion that incorporated all of the aspects of the various religions, so that all could accept and subscribe to it.

AND

The composite known as Jesus

This Awareness indicates that the combination of the many different Roman religious orders or organizations, the different religious sects, forming a composite in which the central heroic character was the Son of God, having 12 disciples, being born of a virgin, whose intent and purpose was to help save mankind, and for his efforts, the entity was slain and put upon a cross; the entity also having certain miraculous powers, including that of those who can heal by touch, or raise from the dead or move into states of suspended animation, such as some of the masters of India have demonstrated in various times throughout history.

Nope everyone should be allowed their own opinions and beliefs. The only time it becomes a problem is when someones views incite hate and violence toward others.

Just thought I would add to Ddawg, atheism is the lack of BELIEF in a Deity or deities, you don't have know there is no God. If you think that way then you are also saying there are no true members of any religion, because they also don't have proof there is a God.

I approve of all free thinking, This would exclude the brainwashed "thoughts" that religious people have. A religious "thought" is not really a "thought" at all, therefore it is not worthy of consideration to a freethinker.

I approve of freedom to think. As organized religion tends to suppress freedom of thought, I tend to disapprove of that, which is a slightly different problem. Its a subtle point, easily confused.

Great question...
But you know that if you don't agree with their "free thinking", then you must be brainwashed...

But then, I'm only here to applaud D dawg!!
He really deserves the 10 for this one!!

I approve of all critical thinking. You are "free" to think complete nonsense and I never approve of that.
