My fiance and I are driving through Canada a month after we are married for our honeymoon. We are going from mid-Michigan to the Boston area, and driving through Canada will save us a few hours each way. Neither of us have ever been to Canada and I am getting my name changed when we get married. I don't know if it will be officially changed in time for me to get my passport with my married name, but my name on my license should be changed by that time.
Also, we are going to faires that allow peace-tied swords and we want to bring those in the trunk.
Lastly, I work at Starbucks and get free coffee and I'm taking several pounds to my friends. I always get checked at the airport when I bring large quantities of coffee (no problem) but will it be a problem on the border? Hopefully they have the same equipment.
This trip is in mid-October and our wedding/date I file for my name change is September 3rd.

You shouldn't have a problem at the border. Even if your new passport isn't changed in time, bring your old passport and your marriage license.
Coffee won't be a problem, because it is already roasted, so won't carry bugs or germs that could harm crops. But the swords might be a problem. Why not call the Canadian consulate and ask them if they will be permitted?
Congratulations to you -- hope you enjoy your honeymoon trip through our fine country.

It would be good to have a passport. You can make arrangements to change to your married name, before the wedding. If you have a passport with your maiden name, I doubt there will be a problem. Do have a valid driver's license with your photo.
This is not going to be a big problem. People go on honeymoons all over the world.
We Canadians would love to have you. Come on up. Hopefully, you know that by land mass, we are the largest country in the world. Unless you have several months for your honeymoon, you'll only be able to visit a little of our beautiful country.
Since you are down East, I would suggest the following: Prince Edward Island(like going back to your childhood with fine, sandy beaches, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia(driving the Cabot Trail will take your breath away, Quebec City & Montreal (more European: delicious food, historial sites, architecture,
great shopping(local artists & artisans.
Enjoy! Have a blessed and wonderful marriage!

Best bet is to bring all the paperwork you have. I travel from Canada to the US frequently and have had very few hassels. I only pack a birth certificate and drivers license for ID.

Just make sure you stop in Bobcaygeon, north of Toronto..Go to Kawartha Koffee Company and say Pete sent you. Welcome to Canada, we are easy to get in and out of if you are who you say you are. Very Spiritual bunch here, you might decide to stay a while..
