Teachers and pastors are very similar callings. Believers gather together to be fed the Word at church, and most pastors I know have the heart of a teacher.

I'd advise you to talk to your pastor about this, and explore this with him and God in prayer.

All things work for the glory of God, including internal conflict. Trust in the Lord, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways rely upon Him, and He will direct your paths.

You have my prayers.

Hey, calm down! It's your life and people have to understand that you can be whatever YOU want! If you are looking for advice, talk to your Pastor and/or your youth minister confidentially. Perhaps you could become a sunday school teacher or a youth minister.
Your mom should understand your decision and once you tell her she will probably be supportive. Just tell her the reasons you have changed your mind and she is bound to understand.
If you are still young then don't worry, your ambitions are bound to change as you get older and discover new things - about the world AND yourself!
If you are worried just choose a moment when everyone is relaxed (usually after a large meal), take a deep breath and just tell her. Chances are, you are worrying about nothing and she will understand completely.
Good Luck!
PS. I'm not Christian but I'm not putting the religion down. Some people should learn to keep their opinions to themselves. Any idiot can see you're looking for advice, not to be talked out of religion! Do whatever is right for YOU. And ignore the people on here who are so closed-minded that they cannot accept other people's religions.

Hey, it's okay! Most times, God works in ways like these. We think our life path is clear, but he has something else in store for us. I know a few people that this has happened to. All you can do is go with it. Go with your heart, go with God. Talking to your pastor and youth minister is a good idea also. But you need to do what you want now! Don't be afraid to transition your mind. God will take care of you. A good 5thing to tell other people about this is that being a pastor is A LOT like being a teacher. But I don't think I needed to tell you that.

Some people's children would fare better in this world being raised by someone else.

That being said, bear in mind the old "be silent in church" thing. You're not likely to find a Christian church that will hire you as a pastor.

However, there are 1,000 of positions available to Christian women who want to teach, both as volunteer & paid services.

Pray, talk to your Pastor &/or Youth Pastor. Let the Holy Spirit lead you.

God will put you where He wants you.

Good luck. I'll be praying for you.

for the person who said the bible is very anti women.
Im christian. I go to a non-denominational church and I have a female youth minister.
and I had the same problem. Ive wanted to teach seince I was like 5, and after this church confrence I went on I knew I had to do something with the church, but you know, you can be a youth leader, instead of the minister and still have another job, or go to school and major in education, and then take religon classes. by then you might change your mind.
you could also teach at a private christian school.

Be both... as a pastor you will be teaching anyway, but not just to kids (k-12) or adults (college) but to all who attend.

Talk to both teachers & pastors, but do it objectively.
Both have moral & other value, but look at what each way offers and go with what you think after talking with both.

You have the right idea, talk it over with your pastor and youth minister. I am sure they will help you come to a prayerful decision.

Not to be rude or anything I just want to point out the irony of a pastor that wants to work with kids. I'd say do whatever you want and let everyone else get over it, or teach at a religious school.

I'd personally recommend becoming atheist though, I guess that's wasted text though, haha. Good luck.
