Can you help me find the name of a golden glove boxer/pro baseball player that was murdered in 1948/49/or50?

i was adopted. i recently recieved information about my birth mother. nothing is known about the father. the only way i can find out her name is by signing up with a registery and hoping she does the same. however it does say that 16 days before she was born her father was murdered. it also says he was a pro baseball player and a golden gloves boxer. i was born in 1981 and it says she was 18. so i am assuming that it was around 1948/49/or50. if anyone can help i would appreciate it. i figured with this info it wouldnt be too hard. but google isnt helping me all that much. i dont have a personal computer so it is hard for me research all that much. thank you for your time.
