From the answers I guess no one knows that camels were used in the Southwest as an experiment before the Civil War. When the Rebel army took over, the camels were released into the desert. I think the last known sighting of a camel in the Southwest was sometime in 1950. Too bad they couldn't make a niche and survive longterm - or we just might see some illegals riding camels - or eating them.

If the camel was a round white log with a filter or or not at one end, it's OK. If it had four legs and a hump, you need to see a psychiatrist pronto.
If you are wrong about it being a Mexican, that's a horse of a different color.
