Norton is a resource hog and will slow down your PC. Goto www.grisoft.com and get AVG

I've never tried the Yahoo! IS package, so I can't recommend it. I DO have Norton IS on my laptop, and I will recommend against using it. Why? Let me tell you:

1. I've had Norton Anti-Virus and other Norton products on various computers all throughout my life. In each instance, there is always something wrong with the program itself. On the Norton IS I have currently, if I don't reboot my compter after about a day of turning it on, when I try to load the interface for Norton, it simply won't come up. On the times it DOES come up, I can never access the AntiSpam console--when I installed it (and I reinstalled Norton IS many times, too) the components for Norton IS never installed properly.

2. Customer support sucks. I tried to get help with the problems for my AntiSpam options since I couldn't access it. Their website is no help, and it takes for EVER to try to find any information related to the problem. You can get free online support, and I tried that, but the applet I had to load in order to talk to someone in realtime never loaded properly. To talk to someone on the phone, however, costs. I paid for the product, and I still must pay for help over the phone: there is no 800 number for you to dial (you will probably have to pay for long distance charges by calling for help).

3. Norton is WAY too intrusive on your system. I've found that with the types of programs I use on a regular basis (I'm always accessing the internet five or six different ways at any given time), too many connections are blocked by the Norton IS firewall. It is also IMPOSSIBLE to permanently turn off some of their features. It will automatically turn back on if you ever restart your computer.

I suggest you try to find a different internet security package than Norton for these three reasons.

Check out Buy.com, they may still have a rebate offer from Symantec that lets you get it virtually free after the rebate, which gives you a year. However, I would recommend staying away from NIS altogether and using free programs instead. If you use AOL you can get free firewall, antivirus and antispyware; otherwise Spybot and Ewido are good free antispy, AVG and Avast! are good free antivirus, and the XP firewall is okay, although it's only one-way.
