The nostalgic PT Crusier's interior versatility is a strong point. The turbocharged four-cylinder available on the Limited model provides the performance the non-turbo models lack and has better fuel economy. Expect 20mpg overall, but on premium fuel. The GT version is quick but needs to be revved to deliver power. Handling is secure but not agile, and the ride is fairly compliant. Recent tweaks have improved some of the controls. However, a wide turning circle , flawed driving position, and compromised visibility are detractions. The PT Cruiser is one of the few convertibiles with a roomy rear seat. Reliability since 2001 has been average.

What do you mean "wrong?" My girlfriend has one. I do not like the way it feels. Feels light on the road to me. I have a fast turbo though so I may not be the best judge. I like some weight under me, lots of quick acceleration and great gas mileage.

They're built on the Dodge Neon frame.... very low end. I'd look at Consumer Reports for the real deal on them. You can look at their car guide at your local library w/out subscribing to the mag.

They are cool cars. You don't need to put a lot of plastic like in a wimpy import to be noticed and they don't have a lot of mechanical problems.

Yes. Very ugly.
Go for a Lotus Elise or Exige.
Takes half the fuel and is faster on the quarter mile.

If they have a tendency towards mechanical defaults, I don't know. I hope not, for anyone who drives them. They're kind of cool looking if you like the retro look they have. But that's not as important as safety, of course.

1. They aren't attractive
2. Not outstanding gas mileage
3. Not a large performance, etc. culture
4. Made by a suffering (unfortunately) US Company, which may affect reliability
