Well, who knows. Look at Africa and how AIDS is ravaging the continent. If the Catholic church would allow condoms, then AIDS would have less of a chance to get spread and less people would pass the disease to their unborn children, resulting in less deaths.
As for herpes, hmmmmmm.
If there is a God, it makes you wonder what the accountability will be like on Judgment Day when God asks the Pope what they have done to protect God's people.

Yes, there isn't any. Herpes is caused by a virus. Actually, there is little cure for viruses nowadays. The only thing that you can generally do in the case of a viral infection is strengthen the immune system and hope it fights it off. Not with Herpes, the immune system can't win against it. Thus you only get to treat the symptoms. Once you're infected, it stays with you for life. So don't get infected.
Personal experience. I have had genital herpes for over 5 years.

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).
3. Married couples should welcome God's gift of children and, therefore, artificial birth control was against the will of God.
If the world is going to ignore teachings about chastity (1 & 2), then why is the world so upset about teaching artificial birth control (3)?
People who are already ignoring the more important teachings about chastity (1 and 2) should have no problem ignoring the less important teaching of artificial birth control (3).
Even if an infected person was to use a condom to help protect his or her spouse, condoms are not 100% effective (read the box) and the spouse may be infected anyway. A person who truly loves their spouse would not endanger them in this way.
With love in Christ.

Herpes can be spread by anyone who has the disease and does not use the proper protection to safeguard their sex partner--not just Catholics. I am sure that some Catholics have herpes, but it does not mean that they will automatically want to spread it to someone else by 1) not wearing condoms, and 2) not telling their partner they have the disease.

My sister is Catholic and she refuses to wear condoms. I don't think she has herpes, though.

They are not the only ones that spread herpes, but they are the ones preaching the evils of condoms to people in Africa dieing of aids.
So they are definitely contributing to the problem.

Where do you get your information? The Catholic Church can in no way prevent distribution of condoms in Africa. They can prevent them from being distributed through the church itself, but that would not stop them from being distributed. Condoms are not the answer to the worlds ills, abstinance and abiding by the will of God would help a lot more.

It is true that it doesn't matter if you Catholic, Buddist, Christian or Jewish. You should not have sex when you have a herpes outbreak. Always use a condom.
