If the vet says he is ok, he should be fine. Cats sleep ALOT! You can get him a friend it helps, my cat loved it when I got him a friend. If you're not happy with the vets answer get another opinion from another vet. good luck.

Cats, just like humans, have different personalities. If your vet checked him thoroughly (fecal test, etc.) and said he was okay. Then he just may be a laid back kitty. Try playing with him more at night. Cats are semi-nocturnal. If he is a stray, he may not be used to humans. He may need some time or may never be the real "playful" type. My cat has some personality disorders because he had no real human contact until I adopted him at a shelter. He loves ME, but won't have anything to do with other people. He also has separation anxiety if he is away from me for more than a day. So, just get used to your kitty being pretty and lazy. It just may be his personality.

Most cats sleep a lot and kittens because they are babies, sleep even more. Does he fall asleep while playing? How long have you had him and has he always been this way?
Did the Vet do a Fecal on him to check for works? Look at his gums. If they are pale in color, bring him back to the Vet because some worms are not detected at certain stages of development.
I wish you only great luck with the new kitten and I hope I was of help.

Cats are by nature pretty independent. They are also usually more busy at night when you are asleep. You didn't mentiion how old the cat is. Maybe he is going through a growth spurt and like a child right now just needs his sleep.

my cat is now 9 years old, but she is really mellow. Even as a kitten, even though she played, she liked to just sit around and watch. Yet, she brought me little gifts growing up and even brought home a boyfriend a time or two. Once she hid him from me and brought him food on my patio. When I found out, I adopted him and she was so happy.

Just relax and keep an eye on him. If he continues to sleep even at night, go back to the vet and have some bloodwork done.

I give our animals GSE (Grapefruit Seed Extract, you can get it from health food stores. A couple of drops in his food or water daily will get rid of parasites) and colloidal silver (this is an antibiotic, anti-fungal, anti-microbial that will get rid of infection, which you can get from Nature's Sunshine - https://www.naturessunshine.com/products/catalog/products.asp?stocknum=4074&language=1 if you need a sponsor number, use 1896474-1). I'd use 1/4 a teaspoon morning and night for 10 days for a kitten. Use a few drops of GSE on each meal until she/he passes worms. Trust me, if it's a stray, there are worms. You should notice a big difference once they're gone.

You can try chemical dewormers, but if the kitten is weak, the toxins in the dewormers may kill it. The natural stuff is more expensive and takes more time and effort, but it's safer and improves their immunity.

Good luck!

It sounds very normal. Kittens and cats love to sleep. Ever hear of Cat Naps? Try to play with it in the morning or early in the day - it does need some stimulation.

Thats how cats are. They sleep about 20 hours a day. Maybe he needs a friend. Why don't you get another kitten?

Aren't cats usually lazy and sleep alot. If the vet says he's okay, dont worry about it. Cats are very independent and could care less about entertaining humans.

All pets are different. How old is it? Cats tend to sleep 18 hours a day or so. Find some catnip. It might do the trick, or try a different toy.
