The cross is worn usually as a symbol/ a reminder of Christs' sacrifice for us,
The catholics wear a cross , with a figure representing jesus on it, like how he was the day he was crucified,
The mormon/LDS I hear, are against wearing crosses, they feel it's like trying to crucify jesus all over again, I once had an LDS friend, who saw I had a cross necklace, and gasped, saying how she would never be allowed to have such a thing....
Then there are non-Christians who wear it , just to be cool, don't know why, you'll have to ask them,
As a Christian, with my beliefs coming close to baptist/ adventist, I don't constantly "Wear" a cross around my neck, but I see the cross as a symbol/reminder of Christ as well, I wouldnt wear the type the catholics do, with jesus on the cross, part of me might feel awkward about that, perhaps I'd get the feeling the Mormons do with that I guess, I have worn cross necklaces a few times, about as often as I'd have the Christian "Fish" symbol on a keychain or something with the praying hands,
Some people feel that by wearing a cross necklace it offers them some sort of protection from evil, but as a Christian, and from my opinion, I don't believe in that sort of thing, why? because even though it is a cross, i think it's wrong to put our faith into a small object to offer protection, i see it the same way as good luck charms/crystals etc, that it can be looked upon even as a sin.....
but with the majority of Christians/non-catholics/non-lds, i think it's worn as an accessory, as a symbol/reminder.... and not always but just on occassion

Many Non-Catholic Christians wear crosses around their necks to show their faith in Jesus Christ.
Catholics wear a cross or a crucifix (a cross with the figure of Jesus Christ on it).
Anyone choosing to wear a crucifix or a cross should remember to behave accordingly. You are telling the world that you believe in and are trying to live the Gospel message.
It would be wrong to wear a cross or crucifix and then behave in an unchristian-like manner.
With love in Christ.

I am not Catholic, but I do not bash them either. I am very much a Christian, a follower of Christ and I wear a cross everyday. It is to remind me of what Jesus did for us. He gave up his life on the cross so we could live and be forgiven for our sins. I feel comfort with it around my neck, knowing that I can wrap my hand around it everyday for comfort, because I know that he walks with me everywhere I go. It is a symbol of His life being taken away, so ours could go on. I will always where my cross. I have alot of friends that are Catholics and they are wonderful people. They wear their crosses for the same purpose.

No I have a bunch of friends who wear the cross as a necklace but I think it just depends on how faithful the person is to their religion and I have found catholics to be more religious

I would not say that Catholics wear them only. Other Christians believers do too. I can't speak for all of them, but I wear it to remind me of the salvation; the favor of paying the debt of MY sins which were payed off when he died on that cross for us. Obviously, it is not that way for everyone, some people simply do it for fashion or even to pretend that they are a believer. But I'm not casting judgment upon them, b/c God knows their heart and knows their true intentions.

Many people wear a cross as a symbol of faith. It's comforting, uplifting, and spiritually refreshing. It's not only a Catholic symbol and, in fact, many denominations wear a cross for their own personal reasons.

Catholics wear a crucifix in order to remember Christ's sacrifice for us on the cross.
Protestants wear a cross (without a Corpus) in order to remember Christ's rising from the dead.

Catholics wear a crucifix because it represents the saving act of Christ, dying for our salvation. The Cross didn't save us, Christ dying on the Cross did!

I am Baptist. I wear a cross 24/7. I have several reasons.
1. It is a constant reminder to me of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the sacrafice He made for me.
2. It is a statement to anyone who sees me that I am living for Christ. Of course, it also means that I have to always remember that I am representing Him and act accordingly. (Not a bad thing to do)
3. It was given to me by someone very near and dear to my heart and as such represents not only spiritual but sentimental value.
It's one of my most prized possessions.
