This question I asked my mom when I was 5 yrs old. She didn't know why but she said that all must. I cried for a couple of days telling myself in a very angry way that I DONT WANT TO DIE!! I kept telling myself that. If you were my mom what would you have told me differently or how would you respond to your 5 yr old asking you Do we have to die?

My five year old talks about death every time we pass a cemetery. "Mom, you're gonna get old and die and get buried in the ground." LOL. Silly girl. At least she realizes it will happen someday.
It's hard to explain to a child what death is, and what happens when a person dies. I just tell her that yes, everyone will die someday. But we live on in each other's hearts and memories.

I'm afraid so, child. We are all born and we all die eventually.
Most of us die from old age but some die from accidents or sickness. Some of us die from suicide, these are the unhappy
folks.

Yes we do and I would have told my 5 year old the same way your mom did too.

Yes, we must die, but if we are good, we go to live with the angels in heaven... that is how I would put it to a five year old.

some day we all must die. and if you tell them this as they grow up it will not be a shock to them as it was to you. just be gentle

yea we have to die unless you want to just be on earth and half alive. our bodies die but our souls never die. we are born alone but never die alone.

i would say our body dies eventually. i wouldn't make up lies to make the kid happy for 5 min., because trust is more valuble in the long run in a kid's education, future outlook, and growth.
