I guess I should add bite holes in pencils too. They love that.

YES all the time! i never knew any other cat did that. sometimes he'll lay on my homework as i'm doing it. or as i read he'll lay on my stomach and block my view. arn't cats great (seriously). if i leave a blank notebook paper on the floor chances are in 2 min. or less he'll sit on it.

Absolutely. She likes to 'help' me! No matter what I'm doing, reading a book, writing out a check, or writing a paper, she has to be right there. She especially like the crinkle sound paper makes. She always looks rather pleased with herself when she lays down on a piece of paper that she knows I need!
I started offering her a food treat to get her to move off the paper I need. Now it's become a game. She just looks for some piece of paper she thinks might get her a treat. And every piece of paper that gets crumpled up for trash, becomes a new toy for her first.

LOL Yes! My cat, Teemu, lays down on anything paper and if my shoes aren't put away he lays on top of them. Guess its the smell. LOL As far as paper goes, its the sound and the feel they like. Pencils sound like varments to them. Honestly, its the way these things "appear" to a cat. Its their instinct to "hunt" things that make that "sound." Teemu goes nuts whenever I have an Alkaseltzer disolving. The "sound" to him is like a "scratching noise" i.e., a mouse in the wall.

Yes my kitty dose that too..I used to read right before going to bed, I don't read anymore, the cat comes right up and lays on top of the book and demands pats..She also dose this to the keyboard on the computer her way of getting attention when she wants it..

Well, our cat likes to lay on our laptop while I'm trying to use it. If a cat wants attention, they'll lay on whatever it is you're doing just to get you to stop that and give them attention.

Cats are very nosy animals. And they love to lay on paper and here the crackling noise it makes. I've known one not too :)
It's funny and very annoying.

My cat LOVES to lay on my homework, the computer desktop, my book, and anything else that i try to get done(laundry, dishes, me eating)

No but my cat does like (and try) to lay across my keyboard when I try to type on line. Also likes to try and lay on my magazines when I read them sometimes too.
