I didn't think so until I started reading their questions and answers in this forum.

I think some people get very scared, like our Founding Fathers did, of the negative powers of a fundamentalist perspective of religion. The Middle East's instability is primarily from the lack of predictability and inability to reason with Islamic fundamentalists. When this severe degree of theocracy is seen, people do become fearful when they see the christian fundamentalist agenda being pursued in the U.S. And it's understandable, right? Christian fundamentalism has invaded medicine and science (stem cell research, evolution), civil rights (FMA), and there are many who now think the PNAC plan for the Middle East (actively create democracies to stabilize the region) is in line with divine prophecy (!!) and, therefore, our efforts should go beyond Iraq (!!!). So ... until fundamentalism is replaced with the love of God (and Jesus' original message, before it was changed and misinterpreted and put into the bible), people will be fearful and their fear will unfortunately lead to anger (and then, unfortunately, hatred). This isn't good but we need to see where it springs from....

One cannot generalize all atheists as being this or that. A lot of atheists that post all those hateful things have no life. They merely want to see how people react. Many believe atheism as not believing in anything when it really should be believing in everything, believing that all is right and that is why they have no religion. But, most atheists are unfortunately not like this. They think themselves to believe in nothing when they should really believe in everything. I am myself an atheist and have no one, true religion but am exceedingly open to all ideas and believe them as much as any person who thinks themselves to be more religious.

No hatred here. We are all trying to live a good life anyway. More in common than not. Want to play Playstation 2?

They simply lack faith(belief of sometime they can not see), they don't understand believers. My x-husband is a atheist, me a baptist. He compares it the Easter bunny, aliens, and Santa. But they don't truly hate those who can except their limited and scientific view of life with out pushing your belief structure on them. You may be confusing their over eagerness to discuss the situation with out being hashed out and threatened with hell, the same way you do not want to have your god call a fairy tail. Think of someone telling you that Santa is real and God is a fairy tail. wouldn't that piss you off. It would me.

Don't you just love it when they come on and tell us they are here to "teach us how to think properly"?
Then they want to whine about the "superior attitude" that believers have toward them.
If it weren't so tragic, it would almost be funny.

Some are, some aren't. The ones that do hate are the only ones you ever hear from, the ones that don't, could care less, and just go about their business.

some do, and i'm not certain why. i say live and let live, and let people believe what they want....we all have to be responsible for our own lives, and we can agree to disagree on religious theology. we all have the right to our own opinions. that said, i know where i am going when i die.

I think that for some, God represents clear cut answers as to what is right and wrong behavior. By slandering God or God followers, they feel that they are able to justify or rationalize their decision to turn their back on God by attacking Him and His followers.
