Many countries are in war, plagued by diseases like AIDS and Malaria with very corrupt leaders who many times are propped up by multinationals and Western governments.
The best way to end world poverty is to allow fair trade, have the rich countries support democratic and judicial reforms and give them effective aid.
In the mean time, you should stop thinking that immigrants are a burden, because they are not. Studies show that immigrants are less likely to commit crimes and use less welfare than native born. They are also a major loss to the countries they come from, because they're usually the youngest, the healthiest and the better educated.

Also what ever happened to:

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door

A great poem from a once great country...

Most third world countries are simply branch offices of Darwin's Waiting Room.

Whether you like it or not, evolution has not been as fast in some areas of the world as it has been in others.

Why is the Chimpanzee further advanced in intelligence than other groups of monkeys? Same species; monkeys.

Same with the human species, except when we describe it, it's called "racism" which makes it no less factual. We have the ability to call each other names; the Chimps don't.

When you get past the 'political correctness' you're still left with Darwin.

have u ever heard of WHITE MAN'S BURDEN??
Its all about that..
American thinks that they are the one and only to improve every other nation, so when they think that they shud act the same way!! thats what they are doing
As far as third world countries are concerned, ppl over there also want to have good living standards, money, jobs....a good future. If they cant make it in their own countries whats wrong when they go for US?
And US badly need those by the way...to work on minimum wages and to magnify economical benifits...

Because most third world countries are corrupt and the wealth is spread among a few elite....No the US tax payer shouldn't foot the bill, however, you make sweeping statements....

Not all illegals are here leeching off the system....Some, if not most, work hard to make a better life for their families....They do pay taxes and they do provide for there own shelter....Tone down the rhetoric....please!

The US taxpayer has paid none of my bills! I have and I pay some of yours with my taxes!
And it's not only 3rd world countries people come from, bu t simply countries where no matter how hard you work, you still can't make a good living.

the USA government does not have to shelter, educate or employ the poor of this world. it should, however be responsible for the exploitation of some countries especially in South America where it has destroyed the rainforests and for all of the poeople who have been harmed by US military bases and nuclear experimentation. this hyas happened even within the USA itself.

Other countries stop them from being able to, in addition to normal problems such as corrupt corporations and politicians.

The International Monetary Fund likes to have countries in debt, and likes to stick its nose in their business because of it... in Argentina where I'm currently living, they wanted to pay off the debt but the IMF wouldn't accept the money because they wanted to keep the power to control the economy. That's why my wife works in a call center for practically nothing talking to stupid American MSN users all day (MSN being a subscription service that doesn't provide anything you can't get free.. ie, a Scam)

You are what you eat.

PEOPLE in 3rd world countries are what makes them what they are. When those same PEOPLE come here and become a greater percentage of our country we will become just like the places where they originally came from.

some of the countries that i have visited actually have good jobs and health care for them. they just don't make the kind of money that we are used to in the US. but they can get by quite nicely on their incomes as long as they do want to work.
