I think its funny how people answer long distance relationships NEVER work. News flash people...they do, they just take a lot of trust, communication, etc. This is something a lot of people cannt handle...some people like to have their boy/girlfriend close by, because otherwise who knows what they might be doing?? ----->Unhealthy relationship and won't last whether its long distance or not.
Let me speak from personal experience: I survived a long distance relationship where I lived in California and my boyfriend lived in Germany. I moved after one year, simply because I did not want to travel anymore...it became extremely tiring, not to mention expensive!
I think the best way to ensure the success of a long distance relationship is to keep in touch, but make sure to call one every 2 days or so, just so that you have something to talk about. Visit each other as often as you can. Be willing to make sacrifices to go see the person. Buy a webcam and go on msn messenger and chat. It's very lovely to see the person! If your boy/girlfriend knows you are going out for an evening, call them when you get home and tell them you were thinking of them while you were out. It lets them know no one else is on your mind.
Basically it comes down to a lot of trust. If you have trust issues, please dont even try a long distance relationship because its a relationship built on trust...like most, but if you live together its a little easier to trust someone!
Good luck!

well me and my partner had a long distance relationship. i lived in belfast, he lived in england. it was hard at times, but if its true love, i reckon it can be done. we kept constant in touch with each other all day through texting. then at night we talked on the phone, and on the computer. so basically when i had my free time, it was spent with him, as if he was with me, which is wat we wudve been doin had we lived closer. also the weekend visits were really special. my advice is include them in everything u do, no matter how small. make them feel part of ur life, even though they r miles away. im living proof that it can work.....i ended up moving to england, and we have been together now for 4 years with 2 gorgeous kids....good luck x

Keep in contact!!! Make sure that you write or call the person as often as possible. Do things to surprise them and let them know that you love them.

Keep communication open and frequent. Calls, on line chatting, send cards, text messages etc. Never let them think that they are far from your thoughts.
