Studies have shown that a tendency towards masturbation in very young children should be totally ignored and not made much of as that would only serve to make them more conscious of what they are doing. It would also make them feel unnecessarily guilty of something that comes very naturally at that age. According to the dictionary, masturbation is self-abuse. And no very small child would indulge in self-abuse. If they were made to feel conscious that they might be doing something wrong, it would only make them more aware of it and then result in a need to derive pleasure in this way. But if this tendency is ignored, the child might grow out of it quite naturally and would not suffer from feelings of guilt.

Whatever you do, please don't discipline her for this! If you want her to have a healthy sex life when she's older, avoid showing negative connotations about her actions. Instead, try to distract her if she's doing it in public or in front of the family, etc. Find another activity for her to do right then, but make it obvious that you've just got something more interesting for her to do rather than making her feel uncomfortable about what she's doing. Many children do this or other similar things, and that is because it is perfectly natural behavior. It doesn't mean anything else other than you have a normal child.

If the child is young it is something they are experimenting with...This is something that happens with young children. You might want to ask your childs doctor what would be the best thing to do.since we are not qualified to answer.

How old is your child?
Your child has learned this somwhere. Either she say your spouse and you having sex, a child she is around showed her this, or she caught something like that on TV.
You need to discipline her everytime she does that and tell her it is not appropriate. Also, try to find out the source of where she learned this.

When you see her doing this, try and distract her with something else. Don't scold her about it.
Take her aside and tell her that when she does that, it needs to be done in private, at home, with nobody else around.
She doesn't realize what she's doing, and probably doesn't relate it with anything sexual. (If she even knows about sex at all.) All she knows is, it feels good.

Iv'e seen some kids done that before. seen a 4 y.o. girl curiosly flipping left and right playing with her little vagina on the floor. an when I ask her to stop, she simply said, she's playing "tick tock" because its a nice thing to feel. so don't panic when your kid experiment with something like that, she probably discovered them by accident. instead, discourage them from doing it citing unhealthy effects...

early sexual behavior could be a sign of molestation you should take this seriously but also be open to the idea that it might not molestation, just get to the bottom of it.
