My wife isn't pregnant yet, but we are trying soon.
When she does get pregnant, we plan to tell my family after 3-4 months.
Some people told me that a first time grandmother should be told all by herself and not with other people.
What do you think?
I wanted to tell my mother by giving her a card to open in front of everyone.
My entire family gathers once a month and I thought it would be special for everyone to celebrate the news together.

Sure, if its going to be happy news
I know some mothers flip when they find out, for one reason or another.
But if you know that she will be happy, and the rest of your family will share that happiness, go ahead.

Why shouldn't the entire family know. There are no wrong ways of giving happy news. If giving her the news in front of family would make you happy do it. The only thing is I would make sure you and your wife are there together. How about giving mom a pair of baby booties in a package as a suprise. Have fun...Its your News...Good Luck

Let's see, if I were in your mother's shoes, I would want to know before anyone else in the family. Grandmothers are special! I would feel so respected.

Tell her and the other grandmother first. Once she knows, if she agrees to keep quiet, send her a card or a special grandmother present.

Well good luck to you and your wife. My husband and I told my parents together. Then we told his parents. I think it would be okay to tell the whole family at once, so then no one could say well you told her first and so on....and that way no one could say they didn't know.

if you are trying to give her an heart attack....see grandmothers are happy and all but in every case tell her alone...and then she can tell the happy news to the rest of the family.

I'd give her a grandma shirt or something. But the best thing would probably be to ask her before your wife conceives to see what she would prefer.
