Wow you certainly want to know a lot about nursing. First there are different levels of education required for each step
1. CNA on the job training and maybe a 6 week class
2. LPN 18 months on technical school
3. RN (ADN) associate degree nurse 2+ years of college and boards
4. RN (BSN) bachelors degree 4 years of college
5. RN (MSN) masters degree 6 years
6. RN PhD forever in college
your level of contact with patients (and I know some proud BSN will contradict me) go down as your education level goes up.

Well im sorry to tell u this but LPN have the lower end of the job. LPN's have to do the so called "clean up jobs". So it sound like you would much more want to become an RN!

In the hospital setting they pretty much do the same job and have the same assignments. Need RN to check admission and make quite a bit less money.
