Based on GATORADE.COM...the orginal flavor was lemon-lime and developed in 1965 by Univ. of FL team coach and physicians to re-hydrate the players.

There are a lot of conflicting answers, but I assure you it was lemon-lime. Before the other flavors came out, it wasn't even called lemon-lime...it was just Gatorade.
