Take the class. Most High School Theatre departments produce one or two shows a year and maybe set up the stage for assemblies and concerts and things. You will probably get a little History of the theatre, some acting theory and some exercises. And you will probably do a little backstage work, pound a set together, hang a few lights. It's a lot more fun that Geometry.

If you realize that you will outnumber the boys and have relationship problems, but a great sex life, it is great! I fortunately was a boy. If you are a decent actress or a good one, you will find that you can become emotionally attached to your character. Example: I did Dracula in college. In the play I had four female victims/acolytes. It was very sensual and sexual for them and I ended up in a four way relationship with nobody upset about the other three, because that was the play. However, not one of these girls really liked me, in fact one hated my guts, but they got into character and couldn't let go after rehearsel. So they lived the life and me being the SOB I was took advantage of the situation. Sounds great for me right? Wrong! 1 girl was married and lost her husband, 1 was engaged and lost her fiance', 1 was from an astute religous family and they shunned her, and the other was a whore whom it didn't effect. That being said, I love doing theatre. It is a fantastic drug to have an audience applauding you and enjoying the artistry you bring to the stage, but you work your *** off doing it! Dracula forced me to stay at school all summer having speech lessons (I am a Southerner and had an accent), Gymnastics, karate, strength and conditioning, and a diet that I hated! Additionally I had to grow out my hair and get extensions. Have my nails filed and shaped, and I was on stage for all of thirty-two minutes per performance. Was it worth it? Every F#*%ing minute of it!

If you're shy, it's not exactly the best class choice. I took drama class my freshman year of highschool and got so nervous when I found out almost all the other students were seniors! It actually turned out to be a lot of fun and I made a lot of new friends. If you're really into acting it's a great class and sometimes you can have a lot of free time if you don't participate in onstage productions. I used a lot of my free time to do homework from other classes.

No you don't become a star in one Year. but it is a lot of fun,and I met some of my lifelong freinds in that course.

it's a fun class, that will give you an opportunity to speak in front of other people and experience amateur acting. it will also give you some decent tips if you're interested in live theater or hollywood. don't take it as a bulls*it class because some teachers know kids think that, and they try to be *****.
