All "crash" diets will work at first to reduce your weight, but if you loose more than 3 to 5 pounds in a week, you are loosing lean muscle mass which will slow your metabolism and make you fatter. I have actually worked with clients who have lost 10 to 20 pounds in approximately a week and when I tested their body-fat % they were fatter than before, even though the scale said they were lighter. In the end they had to do the same as all of us to be healthy. A better approach would be to take "baby steps" in your nutrition goals. For example: try to substitute healthy foods for unhealthy foods ( a piece of fresh fruit instead of a candy bar, turkey sandwich on whole wheat instead of a cheeseburger, a piece of baked chicken and a salad instead of pizza). Remember to eat 4 to 5 small healthy meals daily instead of skipping meals (starvation actually slows your metabolism). Try to eat healthy 5 to 6 days a week and have 1 "free day" every week instead of trying to be "perfect" all the time. You can enjoy food and be happy with your choices as long as you don't go to extremes every time you feel guilty. Food is pleasurable so enjoy
You should include a whole-body weight resistance workout, at least 1-2 times a week, using 2-3 sets of 8-12 reps to stimulate lean muscle mass and keep your bone density healthy. Increasing your daily activity by walking, biking or swimming for fun at least 30 minutes will help with your weight mangagement. No matter how much weight you want to loose; it takes a lifestyle choice to stay healthy for a lifetime. You can do it, but it will take focus and time. Find a group of friends to join you on your journey to keep you on the path to success. Team work will help you during the hard times.

139lbs in 9 months thats a lot of weight to lose. Try to lose like 10 lbs a month thats about 2.5lbs a week. Eat properly consume about 1200-1500 calories a day. Excersise ( cardio at least 25 min.) Dont skip meals that will only slow your metabolism down. Try eating 6 times a day but smaller portions. If you really want to lose that weight do it that way. Also consume at least 90 oz of cold water a day.

Try Nutrisystem & join Curves -- that way you get a balanced diet with no 'thinking' involved - you just eat what they send you (by the way, you select your food from their food list) and then you just work out for 30 minutes a day at Curves. If your parents can swing it, Nutrisystem costs around $245 a month & Curves costs $39 a month. That's a lot of $$, but the combination really works if youapply yourself. If you're motivated, you can do it. I like Curves because it's just women and no mirrors. It's fun to go & gab away those 30 minutes & you make a lot of friends too.

Bottom line is that you need to eat a balanced diet -- you can do this on your own -- and you need to get in sensible exercise too. That combination is a sure healthy safe way to go. Good luck!!

I have no connections with either Nutrisystem or Curves so I'm not advertising for them -- I just know that this combination works for me.
