I have no issues of being out and proud, but I miss the religion that I grew up with. But the Mormon church is hypocritical. To say that Masturbation leads to Homosexualality is ludacris. I am not and will not rescind my sexuality, but I miss the church and have found nothing like it. where should I go to find an alternative?

First off, I'm not religious, so I'm not trying to offend you.

Secondly, the Bible very clearly condemn homosexuality. If you are gay, you might want to explore your options insofar as faith is concerned. The big three, Judaism, Christianty and Islam are going to basically hate your existence if they believe at all in the teachings of their own texts. Especially if you live in the open. If you can hide it, that's another issue. Catholic priests are so often gay that its become a stereotype.

There are other faiths that do not assume you are evil simply because of your sexuality. Explore. Seek out the truth for yourself.

Hi there. So, where did you hear that mastubration leads to homosexuallity? That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I can honestly say that I don't think you will find an alternative. I mean, you'll find something, but it won't be the same and it certainly won't teach the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. I'm a convert to this faith and love it with all of my heart. I even have a gay friend. However... I truly believe that we may be born with certain feelings. Everyone has feelings, that is human. But to act on those feelings, if they do not follow Gospel principles is a sin in the eyes of the Lord. The only true passage I know that the church stands by is that a marriage or a union is between a man and a woman and nothing else.
So no, I do not think that the LDS church is hypocrytical at all. I didn't really see an argument in your statement explaining why they are hypocritical. I hope you will re-consider your decision and come back. I never knew true happiness until I learned of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
My advice to you is to pray... a lot. Talk to friends and family members. You'll find your way.

Look into Gnostic Christianity. Read Sylvia Browne's books. And keep an open mind when you do. Here is a quote from one of her books: "We in the Society of Novus Spiritus find there is great comfort in walking together in our belief, loving God without fear or guilt. To learn is spiritual, because knowledge destroys ignorance, prejudice, and greed." I grew tired of feeling like everything in my life was a punishment from God. Deep down, I knew God really didn't work that way. I'm not gay, so I can't say I totally know what you're going through, but I know these books have helped me deal with things in my life. They make sense to me. Good luck and take care!

Go into yourself and learn who you are (eg: through journal writing, meditation etc.) and the alternative will find YOU, guaranteed! And for starters, don't capitalize the words masturbation and homosexuality, they are just words and don't have any special power over you. Develop the power of your own unique special and irreplacable SELF. You'll be OK. And remember there are alot of REAL problems in the world which need your help...like injustice, war, & environmental devastation. So quit worrying and get on with it, ok, pal? You can do it.

Go to the bible. Read it and actually take in what it says. Homosexuality is an abomination and really not something to be Proud of. That's like saying, hey I'm an alcoholic and I love it. Perhaps you are comfortable with your sexuality and if so, power to you. But to say the mormon church is hypocritical is not right in respect to that particular item. That is taken word for word from the bible. Howerver, no one should judge you for your sexual preference and if you want to be spiritual then I suggest you simply stay at home and commune with GOD by reading his word and meditating on it. Then you will not have to worry about hypocrites.

I think it's great that you're "out and proud"...kudos to you! I don't know of any religious groups that may be of any interest to you...but maybe you could take up solitary praying or meditation. I was raised a catholic, and yes, I do believe in God, but I don't agree with many of the tenets of the catholic church. But I still pray and "talk" to God, and I find this to be all I need. It doesn't matter that I don't attend services/mass...all that matters to me is that I know I'm a good person and that I have a relationship with God.

Im not trying to be mean but the mormon religion is a false religion, I find a little humor in turning your back on what you grew up with for a destructive lifestyle. Its the old story of having your cake and eating it to. there is a christian organization that may be able to help you its called exodus. htese are former homosexuals that have been led out of the bondage of homosexuality by the holy spirit. As far as I know that is the onbly way out of your predicament.

Tried to help on the other post. Growing up in a particular religion doesn't make you a Christian, no matter what the church told you.

You have to make the decision for yourself. Once you've made that decision, I believe you'll find that you tendancy towards homsexual behavior will lessen & you'll be better equipped to avoid situations in which you may be tempted to return to the lifestyle.

The Holy Spirit will help you, but you have to ask for the help by receiving Christ as your personal Saviour first.

A great alternative to (organized) religion is 'secular humanism' check it out. Its core doctrine is an outlook or philosophy that advocates human rather than religious values. It is an active lifestance that holds a naturalistic worldview and advocates the use of REASON, COMPASSION, SCIENTIFIC INQUIRY, ETHICS, JUSTICE AND EQUALITY. Check it out. I think you will be enlightend. Good luck!

I find it strange when people are proud of their sexuality. Some folks like breasts and vaginas, some like penises and butts. Either way, it's really nothing to be proud, or ashamed of. Now that we've got that figured out: try Buddhism.
