Actually some people swear by it but when you think of it, it's already sealed right? Why would the fridge make it any fresher? It's not a food product. After time the tobacco will taste stale so it's better not to buy so much. Also, don't put opened packs in the fridge because it will pick the smells and taste of whats inside the fridge.
If you choose to put your cigs in the fridge, go for it but it won't make it any fresher.

Yes it does stay fresher in the fridge because its a cool environment that is always a steady temperature. Thats where I keep my hookah tobacco. However there is a limit on when the tobacco starts to get stale. but the fidge keeps it from staling quickly.

no, most refridgerators will reduce the moisture in the air therefore dry the tobacco out.

I've found storing my pipe tobacco in an air tight pouch keeps it fresh and if it does start to dry out I'll put a small slice (wedge) of an apple right in with the tobacco and it freshens it right up.

Same as for cigars, the freezer actually keeps it fresh for a longer period of time.

I buy cigs from the Indian Reserve here in Montreal...200 for $10 :) ----- and no, they're not crappy cigarettes lol

i'll buy like 2 or 3 carton at a time, and put em in the freezer.

For the short term it should be fine. For long term storage I suggest the use of mason jars. I've got tobacco that's nine years old in jars.
