Can anyone in El Paso buy a Lamborghini and register it here, get license plates, and an inspection sticker like any other car? Why would a Lamborghini be illegal in El PAso, if not illegal throughout the entire US? Is a Lamborghini illegal to have in El Paso, or even to pass by through El Paso with one?

As an El Paso girl I have heard this rumor about Lamborghinis. I don't think it is true. I've only seen two Lamborghinis in El Paso and I was born and raised here. I mean I have seen it on two occasions. It might of been the same one since they were both red. I agree with everyone else, why would it be illegal?

Here's what I know/heard.

The Italian Lamborghini's are "Illegal" in the USA. Apparently you can't just go over there and ship one back. But they are retro-fitted with flame retardant fabrics and other misc. to make them legal. I heard that the front spoiler is an item that they had to put on the American versions of the countach, in order for it to meet some regulations.
and that is why they are so friggin expensive over here in the US.

I would say Texas would be the best place to have one with the kind of roads and spaces ya'll got.

If El Paso is still part of the U.S. and the vehicle is DOT certified then you can go buy that Countach you've always wanted.

If a car meets standards for sale in the US (mainly safety and emissions) it is legal anywhere in the country.

No - in order to be imported they must conform to all CAFE and DOT standards.

They are legal in the USA.
