people with BPD tend to avoid therapy or jump from therapist to therapist. they are VERY difficult to treat. if you have it and are resistant to therapy it isn't going to help you anyway. but, yes, you definitely need it. BPD isn't fixable with self-help books or Dr Phil.
there is a newish therapy called Schema Therapy that is showing some success with BPD. there are 2 books about it, one for therapists, one for laypersons

Borderline Personality Disorder responds well to therapy, especially Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. However, no one is forcing anyone with Borderline PD to go to therapy.
If anything, some people with Borderline PD rely too much on therapists (as said previously, jumping from one clinician to the next).

YES. Borderline Personality Disorder is not treatable through medication. The only way to treat it is with a lot of therapy. A LOT.

it depends on the person, some people can research the illness and make their own changes..some people need guidance..try looking the illness up on webmd.com..awesome info on almost anything..including mental illness

and IS NOT A DANGER TO HIMSELF AND OTHERS then its not necessary, but still a good idea if he did it

i don't, but i do take my medication, thereapy didn't help me it cause past issues i thought i resolved to errupt again
