The daughter of a friend of mine, 13 yo,got a really harsh punishment for her mom, for bad behavior. For 1 month the girl, except for school time, has to be in bed all the time, including weekends and holydays. No TV, computer, etc. Friends just for homework at her bedside. The girl, of course, is allowed to use the bathroom, for the strictly necessary time.
Her mom said she has an electronic device similar to a camera, a kind of sensor that can register when the girl gets up and comes back to bed. So her mom can control her punishment without having to watch the girl 24/7. With such device she can know how many times the girl left her bed and for how much time, and decide if it was reasonable for bathrommneed or not.

I think this punishment is simply cruel and can cause seriuos psychological damages. In my opinion its even child abuse.

I love the way most people have already found the mother guilty with out even knowing what the child did. To all of you that want to cal CPS or police right away, GET A LIFE. I have 2 daughters that will be teenagers soon. Call me a horrible father, but if I catch them doing drugs or having sex HELL YEAH I will lock them up in there room for a month. It is called punishment. She isn't abusing this child, she is trying to let this child know whatever she did wrong will not be tolerated, so depending on what the child did I can't say it is cruel or not.

It's a punishment. It's not supposed to be fun or easy. The girl is NOT being abused. She has food, shelter and clothing. She's not being deprived of anything vital or necessary for survival. She's not locked in her room so if a fire broke out she's not trapped. She has access to the bathroom so she's not forced to pee or poop in her room and she can shower and brush her teeth. She's not being placed in danger. She's not being neglected since her friends are allowed to come over even if it is "just for homework" and you can't tell me that they don't visit and talk about other things besides homework. She's lucky she didn't get her butt busted on top of everything else.

That girls mom is physco! Seriously derranged!
Kids are supposed to be active all it's teaching her is to be lazy in bed all day! Seriously no tv or computer I understand but for a month and nothing but bed and school?
That's stupid!
As 13 year old no tv for 2 weeks was torture to me!
This lady needs to come up with alternate punishments.

I understand the girl being confined to her room for grounding, but to keep a healthy child bedridden is ridiculous. I would call child services and ask if this is construded as child abuse, because it sounds like a cruel and unusual punishment to me.

oh my god. thats horrible. i watched a movie with the same situation and the kid grew up all tormented and tramatized mentally. thats so horrible.
i wish that mother could feel what her daughter feels. she should be put in the same situation.
oh wait maybe that did happen to her when she was younger and now she is doing it to her child. oh man.
someone needs to call a police to go over there. but i really dont think they would do anything since the girl is in her room. so maybe someoen should talk to the mother and advice her that her child could be damaged mentally from this.
poor child.
that mother is on drugs. stupid person.

that's taking things way too far. it IS child-abuse & who knows if it's going to continue onto worse things. that sounds like a prison, not a house. what did she do that was so bad, anyway? unless she killed someone, that's going way over the top. i'd talk to ur friend & tell her that she's over-doing the punishment bit. i'd keep an eye on any further developments just in case it gets worse.

i admire residing house progression and the Santa Claus video clips. i've got on no account heard of Zoom or Jungle to Jungle. yet severe you're pathetic in case you could no longer cope with those exhibits. That has have been given to be the least perplexing punishment ever. in case you could no longer cope with this then what are you able to deal with?

I think each parent has to do what ever it takes to keep their child alive. Don't know what this kid did but it was probably very serious. At 13 I doubt she will be harmed from having to stay in her room for 1 month. Most kids do it naturally. m
