I would buy it forget what people say as long as you don't run it on the freeway that much you should have no problem i had a infiniti Q45 with 240000 miles on it and it would still run fine had it for 2 years never had a problem with it did a trade in for a 2000 dodge intrepid

With 237,000 miles on it, the Honda is at or near the end of the road, assuming it still has all original engine, transmission, etc....but if the engine/ trans have been rebuilt/replaced, or if the car hs been impeccably maintained, then it could have more miles left. But I doubt it. This is just a nickel-and-dime-you-to- death car in the making as things start to go bad, and they will.
My knee-jerk reaction on this one is to let it go unless you know for a fact that it is problem-free and has been well taken care of. Speaking for myself, once I saw the miles I'd instantly pass on a car like this; even if it's OK now, something major could go away at any time.
You can throw your $1300 into a car with less miles that has a better chance of giving you some more quality miles and dependability. Shop around... I realize that in your $1300 price range the choices are a bit limited but this one will end up costing you $$$ in the long run.
Now, if you buy this car KNOWING that you will be spending money on repairs, and you are OK with that, then I suppose it's all right, but I still think you can do better.
I don't know what your finances are, but rather than buying a $1300 car, personally I'd consider taking the $1300 and using it as a down payment on a nicer car, say in the $5000-6000 or so range...still a used car but more dependable, half the miles and cheap payments. Shop around some used car lots, and check the classifieds.
Good Luck

I wouldn't buy that car for 1300 dollars with that many miles on it. Also year on it would be most useful. But personally for 1300 you can get a car with less mileage. Plus I would ask if they have a record of repairs on it. If it still has a lot of factory parts on it I also wouldn't buy it because with that many miles on it things are going to start breaking and unless you mechanically incline this car is going to be more headache and money than it is worth. I would spend my money else where.

The mileage alone makes it worth no more than around $500. You'll be putting in a new engine soon if it hasn't been replaced already. My '90 Civic has 383,000 miles on it (I put in a rebuilt engine at 240,000 miles). It's still running, but it's finally starting to show its age and wear, and requires attention and repair more frequently.

No way. A car with that many miles could go at ANY second. Its rare that a car lasts that long to being with .For 1300 you get better. Or just lease an inexpesive new car and at least you dont have to worry about problem with it.

what year.. anything older than 99.. forget it..
and also, see if you can get service history and an accident report and make sure there is nothing owed on the vehicle (thats called a lein report)
if you can get service history and it has been maintained.. it may be an alright car..
also .. see if you can haggle the price..
ps.. i work at a honda dealership too :)

try to avoid cars with 100k+ miles, especially after 100k miles, they cars start giving problems. U might wind up paying for repairs later which would cost u as much as under 100k mile car.
do some homework.

A dollar and thirty cents sounds like a fair price.
