Which is better, American culture or Islamic culture?

Harvard Professor, Samuel Huntington in 1993 predicted the turmoil we see today in his piece "Clash of Civilizations" http://www.alamut.com/subj/economics/misc/clash.html

Anyone who has spent time serious time studying Islam knows the immense hatred Muslims have for western culture. Huntington understood this long ago. Unfortunately, while much of the world is able to get some exposure to American culture, Islamic culture is hidden in the shadows.

How do these culture compare?

Civil Rights: Islamic Countries basically have none, not in the broad western sense of the term.

Transparency: Muslims murder and threaten to murder western reporters for pieces they dont like...imagine being a journalist for a state run Islamic paper. No public access to government documents.

Society: Islamic Countries have the highest incest (due to the unnatural separation of sexes), illiteracy, and inter-family marriage rates in the world. Slavery persists. Honor killings persist.

Crime: Islamic countries simply dont report their crime rates. They feed their sheep propaganda about how high everyone elses is, but how can they know whats high or low if they have no means of comparison. We do know however that in Holland, 95% of all their crime comes from their tiny Islamic minority.

I've come to respect your questions over these last few weeks, whether I agree with what you're attacking or not. Obviously American culture is better, people complain about religion being shoved down their throats, not realizing in Islamic countries it's a capital crime to change ones beliefs.

Hatred for westerners is one thing, lots of cultures hate or dislike us, but they don't get so obsessed that they act upon it with violent action. These other cultures co exist with everyone.

When a culture or country gets so violent towards so many people something has to give. The world is too small to have rogue countries wreaking havoc eveywhere. Either they take over and control, or we take over and control.

Without an attitude adjustment by them, the only end result for them will be......In time, a month, a year or years they will be eradicated. The earth cleansed of them if you will by all the other cultures and countries. They will only be a footnote in future history books

That's like comparing dates to apples, isn't it? America is a country. Islam is a religion. So you're asking about the culture of two different things. If you meant American culture or Arabic culture, then that's all a matter of perspective and where you've lived and were born. It doesn't matter, right now, I live in America...end of story

Islam showed the world the power of civilization; America on the contrary is showing the world the civilization of power and destruction. How come you compare a man-made culture which brought the world to the nadir of morals to a culture which raised the human morals to the sky? This is to me just an indication of your ignorance of Islam. If you quote what Samuel Huntington (a Jew who hates Islam) said in 1993, then see for your self what more prominent western scholars said about Islam at this link. Good luck.

It's interesting that you still compare Islam as a culture, alongside American culture. Many people fail to observe the fact that Islamic countries lack the sovereignty that western countries claim and defend.

Too many people still don't understand that, as far as the Musim is concerned, Iraq and Lebanon are the same nation. It's truly an "us"-against-"them" mentality, wherein anyone who is NOT muslim is "them."

Maj. of Islamic Countries don't follow religion but culture and custom. For ex., Saudi Arabia and Iran. They do not follow the true teachings of Islam but rather make themselves one and use it by their own will. I say Islam. Islam is both a religion and a way of life that has perfect reasons to why we should follow this rather being blind like the west is getting high on drugs, drink alcohol, sex, money, etc. Anyway, you haven't been to any Islamic country and saw yourself what civil rights and society is like. The West is blinded. You do not understand any concept and reason to why Muslims don't follow Western Culture but rather Islamic Culture. Have some respect to other people's religion and customs. Anyway, we don't need an analyst on the Middle East.

There is what's called Cultural Relativity. That is when the people of one culture think that their culture is superior and all others are lacking. They judge all other cultures by the standards of their own. People of every culture do this, and they are sorely mistaken when they do this.

What's so great about Western society? Freedom, for one thing. We can worship as we want, dress and work and play as we want, marry as we want, etc. We have so many freedoms!

What sucks about Western society? Abuse of freedom. Just because we do something doesn't mean we do it. Example: promiscuity, rudeness, obnoxiousness, drunkenness, recreational drug use, and the like.

What's so great about Muslim society? The one has when walking down the street! I mean, you can walk down the street and not worry about being mugged, because in Muslim countries, crime rates are far below that of the United States. In Egypt, for example, a woman can walk down a main street at any hour of the day or night and not worry about being molested in any way. Jail time in the States is like a slap on the wrist, while jail time there is literally torture, in every sense of the word. People think twice before acting up. Also, a woman is very respected for the lady that she is.

What sucks about Muslim culture? Not having the freedoms that we do in the West. A couple can be approached by the police for holding hands in public. If two people are in a taxi, man and woman, and one leans toward the other, even to just say something, they run the risk of the morality police arresting one or both. Women are not given the rights as men are, and this is due to culture, but not due to Islam. Let's get it right, people.

There are good and bad in each culture, and it's SUPER ARROGANT TO THE MAX to think that your's is better than another's. The one who does this lives his/her life with their head up their stinkin' azz, and they like it.
