Yes!

One of the biggest burdens people with mental illnesses have to carry around is a sense of isolation...a feeling of being adrift from "normal" life.

So talking about it openly is absolutely CRUCIAL. Telling the truth about it is crucial.

Yeah, there's a whole lot of people who don't want to hear, don't want to know. And sometimes those people can be in our own families.

Well, fine - screw 'em!

No one can fight a battle, hiding under a rock.

I think it's a good idea. Most people don't know much about diseases like that, and a lot of what they think they know is not true. It's always good to know more about these things in case someone you know turns out to have it.

Absolutely not. It's one thing to deal with the every day goings on with the illness, it's a whole other to deal with people's reactions, questions, fingerpointing, whispering about you behind your back, etc.

That's all up to the person with it. Frankly it's no one else's business. If they don't want to tell they don't have to.
