I have a puppy chihuahua and she is the cutest thing ever. She is so smart I didn't even have to potty train her when i first adopted her when she was 2 months old she knows how to pee and poop in her potty area in the bathroom since she first came to my house and she follows me everywhere i go. She's my little shadow! She does get cautious around strangers but i think its because she wants to protect me. She's so adorable!!!.She alerts me everytime when someone comes home or when sometime bad happens. She's my handy dandy alarm.
I had the same problem when i was picking a dog. i really liked chihuahuas and yorkies but i didn't know which one to choose.
Although Chihuahuas are the smallest dog in the world, they have the biggest personality. They are very saucy, swiff and alert and you can take him or her anywhere. They are from mexico where it is hot so if you live in a cold climate chihuahuas are not the best choice for you. If you are the type of person who can really give most of your attentions to pets, chihuahua are right for you. The pros of owning a chihuahua is that you never have to spend your money on grooming your chihuahua because their fur never grow too long and their fur will never mat if you brush their fur once 2 weeks. Chihuahuas love the warm weather so if you get a chihuahua please take him or her outdoors when it is nice out because they LOVE it. During the winter, Chihuahuas are vulnerable to the cold so you have to make sure you buy a warm sweater for you chihuahua. But the good thing about the winter is that you can have fun dressing up your little doggy. The pros of choosing a chihuahua at the pet store is that there are endless combination of colors on a chihuahua. The cons of chihuahuas is that they are catious of strangers so they may not seem lovable to your friends but they are extremely lovable to your family. another con is becausee they are so small they have heart problems so always feed your chihuahua heartworm treatment once a month and buy foods that are good for the heart. Plus there are two types of chihuahuas the smooth hair one and the long hair one. You will have so much fun choosing a chihuahua in the pet store because each one of the chihuahuas look totally different.
Yorkies are little brown fur balls. They are so sweet and lovable unlike chihuahuas they usually don't get cautious when strangers try to touch them. The pros are that if you live in the cold they wont really get a cold. But in the hot weather, be careful because they can get heatstroke. The cons of owning a yorkie is that you have to brush their fur everyday because their hair can mat and they could get skin disease so you should buy dog foods that are good for the skin and fur. if you are the type of person who are devoted in taking care of your yorkie's fur and health, yorkies right for you. the bad thing about yorkies is that you need to spend hundreds of dollars on grooming your little doggy. if you are not the type who will spend hundreds of money on your little doggy's high maintenance then yorkies not for you. Another con is that you won't have fun choosing your little yorkie at the pet store because there aren't any variety of colors that you can choose from.
I believe these informations of chihuahuas and yorkies will help you choose which puppy would be the best for you and your family.
P.S: Don't adopt a Chihuahua or a Yorkie if you live with babies and kids because these small dogs can suffer from severe mental and physical damage.

I would firstly say that a purebred is definately the way to go. There are several things to consider while shopping for a dog breed - if you live in an appartment you may look for a breed that does not bark much s/a mini schnauzer; do you care if they shed; do you have children and what breed is best with them; what is the approximate life span of the breed - both Schnauzers and Poodles live about 15 years; also, are you an active person - if so the short legs of a Daschound may not be the way to go.

Yorkshire Terrier. Chihuahuas are a little more crazy and tend to have more health problems. Yorkies are loving, VERY smart and easy to train. They aren't as 'yappy' as chihuahua's either.
Best of luck!

A Yorkie..they are really calm and loving. My friend has 2 little girls and they are the sweetest little puppies I have ever seen. Chihuahua's tend to have a lot of health problems. My mom and dad used to raise them and they would always shake and get little colds...Good luck

Well... I know someone who has a chihuahua and they're fun. And I have a friend who has a yorkie mix and they are cute but less work. I'd go with yorky but it's your decision!
Good luck finding the perfect pet!

it seems that the small breeds are so hard 2 house break.. and i never cared 4 a lap dog.. but 2 each his own.. choose the one that you think with fit into your life style.. yorkies need 2 be groomed each day.. but either one will bring instant love..

Get a Yorkie if you really want it that much, but lemme warn you, they are really hyper dogs. They're quiet most of the time tho....
If you don't get a Yorkie, get a poodle... they're really smart and loving.
