Yes, and no. I do need to explain why being open minded is a good thing, you probably have all those reasons. However there comes a point when you can be to open minded, on any subject, where you have been given sufficient information to make a reasonable decision and base further decisions upon it but still refuse all in the name of open mindedness. At some point the open minded thing can be just foolish and a crutch to keep someone from ever having to think for them-self.

Sure being open minded is a good thing. It means that you are willing to change your belief about a thing or idea, which ultimately means you are willing to change and grow. If you are closed to new ideas and new possibilities then you remain stagnant. The only thing constant is change anyway. So, why not question what you know and what you believe in order to grow?

Heh heh...you clever thing, you....
Yes, being open minded is a very good thing...most of the time.
But there does come a time when you just simply have to take a stand. It isn't always easy or comfortable to do, but, in the end, the things you stand for define your character.
If you are too "open-minded" you just wind up floundering in a sea of "maybe"......

I think so. If you are open-minded, you generally aren't very judgemental. You don't try to press your beliefs on anyone else. Open-minded people generally can have calm dialogues about religion. Being open-minded doesn't mean that you don't believe in God or that your beliefs are easily swayed. To me, it means that you take everything in life with a grain of salt and dont dwell on things that don't matter.

Definately this allows you to think outside of the Norm or the box that society imposes and/or from years of training by the gov through the public school system.

Yes, very. If you are closeminded, you go through life missing out on a whole lot of stuff. I'd rather be open to everything and have no regrets.

If we weren't open minded, we'd still be living in caves, hunting down animals, building fires.

Someone would say, perhaps, "hey, let's build houses... let's plant crops!"... and then they'd get stoned to death by the narrow-minded savages.

If we weren't open minded, things would never change.

Yeah at least you will experience life to your fullest. If your closed minded you would miss out on a lot of culture, traditions and customs.

I think that there are times and places for one to be open minded. A good time to be open minded is when some is verbally attacking you. LIke realizing they are ignorant. don't be so openminded that you lose who you are
