The same reason people all around the world stereotype blacks, whites, asians, hispanics, americans, jewish, christians, evolutionists, atheists, catholics, mormons, blondes, brunettes etc etc etc..... the list goes on...
mostly out of ignorance, hearing one thing and basing all their opinions on that one thing,
other times, to try to be funny, (which it rarely is)
and sometimes just because people try to be cool, or try to do/say/act the same as everyone else......
everything goes in one big cycle and never ends, one side says these things, and the other side gets angry and says more, etc etc etc..... it will never stop until people learn to be accepting, loving, kind to eachother, it will never stop until people open there eyes and see others for who they really are, not for what little "Category" they go in....
or until people actually think about their words and actions, and consider how it may appear to others

Well, its human nature which has this kind of perspective that if one person had done bad due to religion, ethnicity or even self then they would blame it on the whole group. Yes, I think Christians, Jews, etc. must understand that Islam is a loving religion and its just the media that always put down Arabs and Muslims. Peace...

Stereotypes exist because there is a nugget of truth to them.
To what are you referring to? I assume the stereotype of Islamic terrorists. Unfortunately, Islam has been hijacked by the most extreme practitioners of their faith. And these people are the ones who honestly believe that blowing themselves up in a crowded pizza joint with the intention of killing as many people as possible is a good thing.
If you want to counter that stereotype, I would say you need to advocate within the Islamic community to throw out the extremists, issue a fatwa against terror and terrorists, and drop such notions as spreading the faith by the sword, making non-Muslims pay a special tax, etc.

Stereotypes exist because there is usually some truth to them. How many video tapes or webcasts have you seen that feature Christians or Jews sawing someone's head off with a machete? You could also ask why those particular Muslims hide their faces if they believe so much in their murderous Jihad. Death to Jihad! I hope al-Zarquawi is burning in hell where he and his kind belong. Jesus is Lord.

My sister married an Egyptian and has 2 children with him. She is actually in Egypt at this very moment trying to learn the language and their way of living because she finds it mysterious. I'm quite convinced that a lot of people are copying this religion because it's something new, like a new fashion. It's so ridiculous

Because there are to many killing in the name of Allah.
I think they need to police their own ranks and get rid of these radicals before they destroy their whole Religion and the world with it.
I admire many things about Islam, just because I don't buy that Muhammad was a prophet does not make all of the faith bad.
Peace!

If by stereotyping you mean;
Showing this disgusting cult for what it truely is and exposing the terrorist adgenda that was written by mohammed for the world to see, then yes, we are stereotyping.
Tell you what, have ONE recognized muslim leader denounce 9/11 and I might, cut you some slack.
Deal?
