Counting calories and plenty of cardio exercises. Counting calories will help you keep track of how much not to eat. 3500 calories = 1 lbs weight. Cutting back 500 calories a day from the 2000 daily calorie limit will result in 1 lbs weight loss in the course of one week. Of course, combined with aerobic and anaerobic exercises will result in even more weight loss.
Anaerobic (light weight lifting) will increase your lean muscle thus adding weight to your body. This is good weight though. Having more lean muscle burns more calories during the day. Also, to burn fat efficiently, you should run/jog/cycle at a 50%-60% increase of your normal heart rate.
You can go with any of the fad diets that are out there or just simply count calories. I suggest eating small meals about 6 times a day. This tells your body that food is plentiful and less likely to be stored in fat.
I wouldn't recommend taking any pills that claim to lose weight. I remember using Stackers 2 and losing a lot of weight. But as soon as I stopped taking them, guess what? Yep, I gained it all back. Having a steady diet and routine exercise plan is the most effective way to lose weight and to keep it off.
Good Luck!

Well, I don't think you should worry about your weight right now. Focus on your health first. I am overweight too and I'm trying to diet. But if I focus on my weight to change, I'll give up after the scale seems not to move. I've noticed a difference in the way I feel before I noticed the pounds coming off. I suggest walking at least 30 minutes a day and at least 3 times a week-great cardio. Be sure to stretch first. Sometimes if I cant get out and walk, I cut the radio on and dance. You can also lift light weights. And remember to drink plenty of water. Water helps to flush your body of toxins and fats and keeps you hydrated. Try to cut back on sugar and foods/drinks that contain lots of sugar. In my opinion, there's no miracle drug but there are vitamins. Vitamins keep you healthy and vibrant and do not have horrific side effects as diet supplements may have. Good luck!

I have heard of this new all natural supplement Hoodia. It is said to work immediately. I have not tried it myself but have heard many good things about it. It is derived from a cactus in africa. You can look up the side effects online on Web MD.

All appetite suppressant drugs are potentially dangerous. Exercise and a good diet should work for you.

What works is restricting calorie intake and diet. That's all.
