What ancient army would you have like to have controlled?

Or if you could combine forces from different armies, what would your army look like?

When you say ancient I'm going to assume that means Pre-500 AD which leaves out the Crusades which fall in the Dark and Middle Ages. For Ancient Armies though I'd take Alexanders Phalanx, the Spartans and the Roman Legions. Put those 3 together and look out!! :-) I'd love to have some Mongol Calvary but that again is around the Middle Ages. Hunnish Cavalry would do nicely though, close enough to Ancient Times.

I'll take command of Alexander the Great's army along with the D-Day force. Superior air, land and naval capabilities. Plus, he was the last general to conquer Afghanistan.

I would like to have contolled the armies of Ghengis Khan. An empire that stretched from Beijing to Baghdad. The largest empire in the history of mankind. Before the Khan died, they were looking at invading europe.

Roman Legions were the best up to the time, and if not for internal and external pressures and overextending the empire the military could have defeated any other army.

I would like to have controlled the armies of the first and second crusade.

They were a vicious lot very capable of death and destruction.

They were a superior force but not adapted to their enviroment....I would have changed that.

I would be happy to command Cesar's Legions during the Gallic Wars just as they were. They had great engineers, cool engines of war, effective cavalry, totally kicked A**, and lived in decent conditions.
