Jesus said all of the commandments can be summed up in 2 commandments, "Love God and love your neighbor", if you do this, than you will be obeying all of them. If you love God, you will not take his name in vain, have other gods before him, you keep the sabath holy, ect, if you love your neighbor, you won't lie, steal from them, kill them, covet or want what they have, ect.
The Greatest Commandment
Matthew Chapter 22: Verses 34-40 (NIV)
34Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[b] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[c] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Tis is the first and greatest commandment. and the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.'" and it is true too.

Does it even matter if no one, esp. in the U.S., is listening to them anymore?
---Thou shall not murder? Ummm....welcome to America.
---But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work—you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns?
Ummm....riiiight. How many people do you know work their butts off on Sunday? Whether it be lawn work, at the office, home improvement, car repairs, conservative Christian talk show hosts who have a SUNDAY programming slot!!!!!!
---You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or male or female slave, or ox, or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.
Oh no, Americans don't want anything that the Jones' have. Nope. We don't covet anything our friends, neighbors, and the other guy have. Riiiiiight.
Guys, my point is, you can argue all you want about which one is more important, but if a very slim and invisible minority are the only ones actually following them, then what is the point?

My favorite is:
Commandment # 1 - Thou shall not have other God's before ME
I actually enjoy watching how Christians try to spin it by saying that praying to Jesus is not a contradiction to what God said - Jesus "I am the only way to get to the father" uhhhh, if you believe that than you are willing to say that God contradicted himself on purpose...
thou shall not Kill? How do you justify the early crusades? how do you justify supporting a President and an unjustified war in Iraq where innocents have died?
Since every fundamentalist enjoys saying "this country was founded on christian principles" only to murder indians & stealing land thru bad trades & war (so much for "thou shall not steal", only to convert them... only to introduce slavery later on... got to take the good with the bad if you want to make such BOLD CLAIMS...
honor thy mother & thy father? By trying to convert someone and knowing their parents are against the conversion, are you not taking part in breaking yet another commandment?
I guess your question should have been how many of the commandments do you break on a daily basis???
As far as "Love thy neighbor goes" the hidden meaning is "only if they are just like you".... if your neighbor is an atheist or gay or satanic do you love them? Cause there ain't much love shown on this site for them with some of the questions I've seen from the religious nuts on these boards......
Keep in mind - I love God - I just can't stand the majority of his BS fans!

You shall love the Lord, thy God, with your whole heart, mind, strength, and self.
The second greatest is "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
Jesus said this Himself. Sums up the 10 commandments nicely.

Matthew 23:37-40 Jesus said unto them, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two hang all the law and the prophets.
