I have Persions myself. Their faces are squished in a bit so, they are prone to runny eyes that can look blackish in color. I just get a q-tip and soak it in warm water (not hot) and wipe it away. If you dont wipe it often, it crusts up and hardens. This can be very hard to remove and painful for the kitty once it does, so you should wipe it with the q-tip at a minimum once a day. My cats did not like it at first either...they did get used to it though. Besides, if you keep up with it, it shouldnt take more than a few seconds to wipe each eye.

This is completely normal with Persians. Persian cats are very high maintenance, but their loving nature makes any extra work worth it. Take a cotton ball, pad, or the like and wet it with saline or multi purpose contact solution. While you are holding and petting your cat, wipe around it's eyes. You might need to do this every couple of days, after the first few times the cat will get used to it. While it is not necessary to visit your vet for this purpose alone. If you are new to the Persian breed they might be able to give you some advice in caring for your Persian.
Persians are wonderful and beautiful cats! Enjoy!

Train her now, and yes it is perfectly normal. They have a product at Petsmart that actually cleans up under their eyes a little bit better. I forget what it's called. It's in the grooming section and it's made for white fur under the eyes, because there is a breed of dog that has this problem too. Anyways, the stuff works pretty good.
My Persian has been doing this ever since we got her.

. If this is the only reason your taking your Persian in to see the vet, by all means save your money. This is perfectly normal. Persians eyes tear. I use baby wipes on my Persian. It should be done daily to prevent infection. You should keep your appointment with your vet is he needs shots or spay or neuter.

Yes, it is normal, especially for Persians. You need to train her to let you wipe it away, however, or it will build up and possibly block her tear ducts.

This happens with Persian cats because they are bred with such shortened muzzles. With a white cat it would be more noticeable.
I hope you got your cat through a reputable breeder and she will not have seriously compromised breathing throughout her life.
