If you want to spend $50 or less and do it with professional products I'll tell you how. First I've been doing this for years, for myself and friends. It is never completely permanent unless you like the bald look. Just email me and I will send you the specifics. I'll be on here writing forever if I do...lol. Good Luck!

Japanese straightening seems like the only long-term solution, but it is only semi-permanent. The hair growing from the root will still be wavy and frizzy, even if the hair lower down remains straight. There is currently no way to make your hair 'permanently' straight, only to make the hair that you currently have on your head straight.
The thermal Japanese treatment costs 5-6 hundred dollars usually, and lasts 6-8 months.

You will usually have to go to a salon, find someone who has been trained AND who has done it before. It can last up to six weeks (your new hair growing in will be naturly curly or frizzy depending on what you had before). It can cost up to $500-600 and will take 5-6 hours. I got mine done by a friend of mine who has dopne it before in her home, and I paid $200 and it stunk to high heaven. It has been six months and my roots are frizzy. One you get it done you cannot wash your hair for 3 days! (that was the worst part)
But that is what you do, and as a consumer you should always research what you buy, expecially those high ticket items to make sure you are getting the most for your money with the most qualified person you can.

Straightening Hair:
Permanent: Go to the Local Beauty Salon
Ask the sales associate. Normally I would try to buy a straightener that is not too expensive. Try it. I suggest You test to see if it's hot enough. Heat of the iron is important. If the iron straightener is cold, then you may return it.

Personally,
Dont get it permanantly straightened.
I did the Japanese Perm before and it really wanst that good. Most of my friends did it too and they all said that they wish they could have their curly hair too. So, I thihnk with the money youd be spending on the perm, you should buy a really good ceramic flat iron. Either HAI or CHI. Those are the two really good brands.

japenese straightening - you have to go to a salon and it will be a few hundred bucks. You have to have touch ups every few months. It is permanent nad irreversible.

Shave totally bald.
Let it grow a little.
Wah la! Straight hair.
Maintain at this length and it'll be permanent.
