I am not home schooled but have home schooled my kids. It was not for religious differences but because the school system is behind the times functioning in an outdated model.

What I have learned as a teacher is:
1. There is more time for learning and creativity.
2. "Socialization deficit" is a myth.
3. Yes there is some "shielding" but mainly from the dysfunctional creatures that the schools will not deal with.
This accelerates the learning process.
4. All of my kids score in the top 2 percentile on national exams but are not geeks or freaks. They all have large social circles and are among the leaders of those circles.

If you can do it. It's the way to go.

I'm not going to knock home schooling. It is very important to know that teaching is a full time job. In elementary school a teacher teaches one grade, all subjects. So, if you have siblings of different ages, somebody is not going to be taught at the correct level. After elementary school the subjects get more complicated, a teacher will only typically teach one subject. Unless your parents are educated and able to spend the right amount of time with you they are robbing you of your education.

I believe that is more important to teach your kids how to deal with peer pressure, drugs, and sex, instead of keeping you away from those things. Those are valuable skills which you will need your entire life.

Truthfully, by reading your other questions posted, it is very obvious you're not getting an education that a girl your age should.

Hey girl!
I am home-schooled as well. :)
But haven't you heard? It's everyone's dream to go to public school, though, as to not be shielded from crazy maniacs that like to shoot fellow students, drugs and, in some occasions- oh my- rape!
The glorious wonders of public school!
NOT.
My sister was the only one that went to public school out of my family, and she didn't turn out too well.

""NOT ME.....Any parent who is homeschooling thier child is shelding them from the world around them and not letting them live a normal life....I don't think that is right.""

You know, that "I before E except after C" is flawed?
Like "Weird" and, perhaps, "Their"?
Except "Shielding" on the other hand, I is before E, but you DO need an I ;) Otherwise it sounds like "Shell-Ding" Which is a word I'm not familiar with.

I can accept typos, but you need to have your folks help you with grammar and punctuation.

I find homeschooling kind of frightening because the children are not exposed to any but their parents points of views. Exposure to other points of views is essential for a child to learn to think and assess on his or her own.
