No, not at all...as long as you are firmly grounded in your Faith.

I believe it's important to know about other religions. It will also show you that you worship the Living God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob.

It will also help with debate...with correct information.

There's a great tool / book called "Religions A - Z" by James Beverley. It's a great snapshot (and some in depth) of other religions/cults.

I will tell you this...the more I study other religions / cults; the more blessed I am that God the Father and His Son Jesus are the only one that seeks us for a relationship. It's all based on Faith. They love us while we are still sinners and seek us out for a personal relationship. WOW!

Grace to you and God Bless!

No, it isn't a sin to study other religions. I think more people should. It would give us a better idea why other people feel and react the way they do. Just because we study something doesn't mean we have to take it as our own.

I'm a faithful, life long Christian. I've studied other religions, as well. I've found that if you look closely enough at any religion, you will find a good number of similarities all mixed in with the differences. It kinda makes me wonder if we aren't all worshiping the same God, but using different names for Him and having different beliefs about what He wants for us.

We're all more alike than we may realize.

Absolutely not. You are probably "Christian" because your parents are Christian, correct? Does that mean that any of the other religions in the world are wrong?

Studying other religions is a good way for YOU to decide what you believe to be true, rather than just being a follower like so many of the masses.

absolutely not. I would however encourage you to make sure that the same time and attention you devote to other religions you also devote to the bible and the christian faith. Many people, especially those raised in the church, think they have heard it all because they are familiar with the basic bible stories so they don't spend the same amount of time digging into the christian faith as they do other religons then all of a sudden something else seems better simply becuase the knowledge isn't the same. Learning is never a bad thing it can strengthen your own conviction just be sure to protect yourself. Satan has many ways of convincing us we are wrong. Doubt is a huge tool he can use.

I do not think it is a sin to study other religions if you are a christian, because God created all religions and eventually we all believe in the same God, even Jesus Christ was originally a Jew and not a strict Christian until his death on the Cross. I am personnaly interested in the Jewish religion, but I am learning all I need to know from the Old Testament of the Holy Bible about the Jewish religion.

No. It is a good idea to have some knowledge of what other religions teach. I am a "fundie" Christian but have taken the time to look at what others believe.

Since I know that God is real, and is trying to reveal himself to everyone, I can see some truth in every religion. And I understand why there are similiar stories and ideas in them. They are all looking for the same truth. It also lets me see the errors in them. That way I can better talk to people who have those beliefs about my own.

(And some are always good for a good laugh)

Christian beliefs state that there is only one God. We are to spread the Word of the Lord with others. We are to follow the teachings of Jesus. Being knowledgable of the beliefs of others may help us to spread the Word of the Lord more effectively. I don't believe it is sinful to study other religions to develop a further understanding and acceptance of others.

"SIN" is a concept created by the religion itself... In the free world you are allowed to study any relgious, scientific, artistic scripts that you like.

Most religions try to impose themselves upon society as the "Thought Police". In the free world, if i want to to think or say that the "Virgin Mary" was in fact a common whore and jesus was born to her... then i am free to do so... no religious book is going to threaten me with its "SIN"

Do not concern yourself with sin my friend, live by the laws of the land and you will do fine... (unless you live in an islamic country where being a christian will earn you an promt public execution)

Prove to yourself RIGHT NOW that that praying does not work

If your motive is understanding, it's no sin. But you may run into very persuasive people from the other religions, so be sure you have a mature Christian to check in with during the process.

I think you meant "cults" not "occults". Don't fool with the occult--it's dangerous.

Knowledge is never a sin, only in ignorance do you make yourself open to sin. In fact, even though my religion is different than yours, I applaud your open mindedness and your true faith of your religion to feel confident enough to study others. How better to answer questions asked of you when you have the understanding of their faith? May Allah be pleased with you.
