I have that written on a shot glass. My favourite one is "you're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on".

It sounds like what you drank last night was alcohol? It is a well known dehydrator of the body, sucking all the fluid out of you, which is why you feel so thirsty the next morning. And why you have that mother of all hangovers. The best way to avoid this, which I know is hard when you're plastered and just want to lie down on a soft pillow in a darkened room, is to make sure you drink a couple of glasses of water when you get home after your bender. Trust me, I'm a nurse, lol! (really). xx

I'm sure loads of people have already said this, it's because alcohol of any type will dehydrate the body. You're thirsty because you need to rehydrate yourself. Drink a large glass of water before you go to bed next time, it'll help and you're less likely to have a headache the morning after.

I assume you mean you have drunk a lot of alcohol.
When you drink alcohol, this acts as a diuretic, and starves the body of water, so you feel thirsty in the morning.
If however, you have not drunk alcohol, and you are this thirsty, then you may have a medical condition. Diabetes is the first thing to spring to mind, so see your doctor asap.

My theory is (assuming you meant drinking alcohol the night before) the frequent urination and possible vomiting along with perspirating during sleep and alcohol's biochemical affects on the body causes dehydration in the morning.

For the same reason you have a headache after drinking too much, you are dehydrated. Try drinking a glass of water before you go to bed, it works wonders.

alcohol dehydrates you so you should drink water and alcohol on a night out to reduce the dehydration you suffer the morning after... a hangover is essentially another word for dehydration!

Because alcohol dehydrates you. That's why after you get drunk or whatever right before you go to sleep, you should drink like two glasses of water.

I thought that everyone knew alcohol, tea, coffee and fizzy drinks ALL dehydrate you. Obviously not-otherwise this question wouldn't have been posted. You can't have been drinking long 'cos thats the first thing you learn when you start to drink.
