My now ex boyfriend made me a teddy bear from the build-a-bear workshop. It's the cutest thing ever, he even named it especially for me. She says "I love you" when you press her paw. Now that we are not together anymore do I have to give it back or is it ok to keep it? It's one of my favorite gifts.

This is a momento from the 'happy times' and you do not have to give it back. However, if he asks for it as some low-lives do, give it back to him. It will show that you are the bigger person.

You can still keep the memories of the relationship- not because it's over, it never happened.

definitely not.
It was a gift. It's not like an engagement ring . Or if he was still making payments on something he gave me when we broke up , I would give that back too. I don't think it would be right for him to continue paying on something for me when we were no longer together. But this was a simple "personal gift". . Not costing him anything. Nothing big. I wouldn't worry about it.
I would probably keep it if I didn't absolutely hate him.
you obviously still have some good feelings for him or you would be ripping it into little pieces and letting your dog eat it..lol

All gifts are just that--gifts. You get to keep it. It will be a lovely keepsake of your old boyfriend. Especially when you are an old woman! I would put it away when new boyfriends come over though! Otherwise they might think you are playing games with them!

No way when I guy gives you something it's your to keep even after you break up. The only thing even to ever be considered given back is an engagement ring and that is up to how you feel about that. I would definitely give back an engagement ring or anything that was given to me by him that was like a family heirloom.

What kind of a question is that? A gift is just that...a gift. According to ancient rules concerning such things, if he asks for the gift to be returned, you have the right to kick him in the great down under.

If he asks for it back that is just a validation of why he is now your ex. He gave you the gift when you were together. Just because you broke up doesn't mean you have to give it back. Do you expect him to give back anything you've ever given him?

No, it was a gift that he made especially for you. If you gave it back, you'd probably just hurt his feelings. Keep it and think of the good things you two shared.

You should keep the bear. It was a gift to you and it evidently means something to you.

It's a bear... not an engagement ring...

It was a gift you don't return it...

Heck when most guys and girls break up... Stuff like that gets trown away or burned... Depending on the girl! (lol)

But no you don't have to give it back...
