Religious parents, it’s time to wake up. Granted many of you were brain-washed from childhood about God, Religion, the Bible, Jesus and all such garbage, but there is no excuse today to continue with such ridiculous beliefs.
Technology, Science, the Internet etc, all bring facts (not fantasy) quickly and easily for you to learn and understand today. Maybe you had an excuse to believe in this religious garbage in your younger years, but that’s not so today. You have no excuse, and you owe it to your children to wake up and teach them properly. Do you love them?
Why brain-wash their young gullible innocent minds with garbage that you think is true, yet all the evidence around proves exactly the opposite. Are you insane? Do you lack intelligence? Think about your children and care about them.
Our children today are not fools, they are more informed and will be wiser than their parents. Stop now and say no to religion, for our children’s sake.

I was just thinking along these lines this morning.
How much time I wasted being afraid! How long it took me to overcome the catholic guilt thing.

I entirely agree with you.
I would back up your argument with a long essay but unfortuneatly, I am too tired at this point though I love debating. :-)
To me, believing the bible and in "God" seems just as ridiculous as believing in Santa Clause, or the Easter Bunny.
The bible is so unrealistic. I can not believe people follow a book written by a random man thousands of years ago. People do not take other books seriously, so why the bible? There is absolutely no proof that the bible is non-fictional, and there is no proof of "God". People should realize and accept that the bible is FICTIONAL. A random man (or possible a woman) wrote the book. You see, if I wanted, I bet I could write a book stating all sorts of ridiculous, fictional things and release the book anonymously and somehow claim that those are the words of "God". I am sure people would be ignorant and gullible enough to believe it.
People today just don't want to accept that they are going to die so they rely on a book guiding them on how to reach Heaven. I guess they might as well kill themselves (not to sound harsh, or mean) if getting to heaven is the only purpose in their life.
I usually do not mind religious people but the second they start imposing their beliefs on me or criticising me i get really angry.
They really should learn to keep their ignorant opinions to themselves.
Amen.

What exactly would you have me teach my children? I love them immensely, so I try to live in a loving way that shows care for others. I acknowledge a higher power, for surely somehow we were created, and what percipitated that? There is a cause and effect for everything, so even if evolutionists bring up the Big Bang theory, I believe there would have been a creator for that. I will not knock your non-religious beliefs, so please do not make judgements about my spirituality, my religious beliefs, or the level of love for my children.
Plus, do not always believe everything that technology, science, or the internet put before you: technology is always being "improved" upon, proving that it is not perfect; science tells us on one day that coffee is bad for us, then it tells us it's good for us, then it backtracks and tells us of dangers of coffee ( a very simple example of how science contradicts itself at times); and the internet? Any fool can post a website or write something. Publication on the internet is not proof of validity of information.

Technology, Science may bring facts, but their facts are subject to change. . . Science taught me there were 9 planet in our solar system. I learn yesterday that they were wrong - there are only 8.
Technology once taught me that no one would ever have a need for a computer in their home. 10 years ago I learned that I had to have one to stay employed.
As for the internet. . . when was the last time you believed every thing you saw on the internet? I remember seeing photos on the internet (around December 2001) of a man standing on top of the WTC with a jetliner getting ready to crash into it. "Recovered roll of film from Ground Zero" was the title. I quickly learned that was a joke.
But to the heart of your question. I love my children dearly and would want them to have the same relationship with God that I have. I am sorry that you do not have this same relationship. Perhaps if you did, you wouldn't be so bitter about things.
I will continue to say "YES" to religion, my faith and my God, for my childrens sake.

There is no evidence "that proves exactly the opposite." In fact, in my life, I have evidence that proves to me and my children that there IS A LOVING AND MERCIFUL GOD!!!!
So, you are wrong to expect me to change my beliefs based on your life experiences, instead of my own. I don't just believe because someone told me to. There is more to it than that!
What will you do if your children become Christians in adulthood?

As a Christian I live by faith, not "religion". However, I'm sure that you don't understand the distinction I am making (despite your "vast intellect").
The suggestion that "atheism = intellect", or "faith = ignorance" is both insulting and idiotic. The children of today may or may not be well-informed, but your diatribe indicates that you still have an awful lot to learn...

So, I guess you know everything, huh? Why don't you lay off at let people believe what they want to believe? I would NOT let my children grow up in a non-Christian household, and God save the souls of any children you may have.
