Once hair is colored dark another color will not lighten it. My suggestion is to find a stylist that you trust and ask him/her to use a color remover (not bleach) on your hair. That will lift it up enough to see what you'll have to do next. A color remover is not a one step process. You WILL have to have something else put on your hair (toner, bleach or color).

Your going to need a stripper. (not that kind) lol. Go to the beauty supply store and they will tell you what kind you need. It will damage your hair but my mom was a hair dresser and its the only fool proof way to get all the color out. Then you have to find the color closest to your natural color to put in after you've stripped it. Be careful! Overproccessing can be very bad. Use an intense reconstructor to help mend the damage until it begins to turn healthy again. Hope that helps. Oh yeah - and coconut milk works wonders for repairing and conditioning. Leave it on overnight a few times a week for the first few weeks and then just once a week or so after that. Make sure to cover it with a bag .

Don't try to fix it yourself. Go to a professional hairdresser to fix it. You could really do some damage to your hair if you do it on your own. The pros can take out some of the color you did and then figure out what would be best from there.

You will have to have the color stripped out and then toned back to a color that is close to your natural hair color.
