Do you ever feel that if you could just find the right words we will turn from our disbelief? Why do you wish to convince us? Love or pride? Ever feel like Job?:) Can you accept that no matter what you say most of us won't budge an inch?

Walk in peace.

As a christian, our job is to get the word out there and to tell people about Jesus. Whether you want to believe it or not, that's totally up to you. It's frustrating how judgemental people are, giving christians a bad name because we enjoy Jesus and spreading his word, but I don't get frustrated because someone won't budge......that part of it is none of my business. We wish not to convince you but to lead you to the Word of God so you can be free in Christ. It's for love.....God loved us first, before he knew us. Anyway, this is a good question to ask. I hope you find what you are looking for.....

Blessings

I'm an atheist, but your attitude is dissappointing. "Won't budge an inch" implies someone who is no longer able to learn.

I've had some enjoyable conversations talking with some Christians. They can tell that I've thought through my beliefs enough that I'm very unlikely to convert to Christianity, and I know their beliefs are strong enough that I am not likely to convince them that Christianity is just a very successful myth, but we still both learn from each other, if only that we each get a better insight into another way of thinking.

No, I don't get frustrated when talking with an atheists. I trust God to give me the words to say. I don't not expect to convert everyone. I do what God says in his word to do. I than let him to do the rest. I know the odds are silm that anyone would turn from disbelief because most atheists have endured a life long brain washing from the media, teachers etc. They will over look the scientific evidence that disproves evolution for a varity of reasons. I think it is really sad that so many are blinded. (Other reasons that atheist fail to accept the truth has to do with their fear of being rejected by atheist friends , their pride of not wanting to be called "unlearned" and/or their desire to be accountable to no one.) We wish to convict you, because we don't want you to go to hell. If a child was in a burning building, you would not stop trying to rescue him/her because he/she was screaming, "Leave me alone." God hates pride. If I tried to reach atheist out of pride, I would end up in hell with the atheist. My punishment would be worse that that of the athesist because I would have known that God was real yet disobeyed him anyway. Sure, I often felt like Job when I thought I had overian cancer, I was rejected by a church and family, I lost my job, and my father died. However, I have never felt like Job because some atheist choose to remain in darkness. Sure, I can accept that most atheist won't buldge. However, trying to reach them doesn't mean trying to push them. God pushes himself on no one and doesn't want us to do so.

I get just as frustrated talking to athiests as I do when talking to Christians. It's my belief that neither side is able to think for themselves. There are individual exceptions on both sides, but those athiests who just say that Christians don't think for themselves are just as likely to disbelieve because of some clever thing that someone else has come up with. They take this in blind faith because they want to feel tough by standing against what they label an imaginary god who obviously won't fight back. And Christian answers are just as bad with the "I just feel it" or "I just know" routines.

Why not respect everyone else's beliefs and not try to force them on others?

It's funny how many "Christians" claim that "atheists" attack them on here. Truth be told, most of the supposed "atheists" on here "attacking" Christians are angry young people who do believe in a god but feel like he/she/it has shunned them. As an atheist I don't attack people, but often feel that I have to defend myself against Christians who wish to question my beliefs in the lack of a deity. I get this at work and in public. When I go to public sporting events I hear a "prayer" (yes, some sports still allow this). I hear public prayer at public school functions. My state now allows "In god we trust" license plates.

Then, to top it all off, we get people who want to "spread" the word. How about leaving people alone and spreading the word amongst yourselves?

Right back at ya. I have found that most of the dialogue on these boards involves atheists flinging accusations and insults, and Christians defending themselves.

(sarcasm) But I can see how you might feel the victim here... (/sarcasm)

Nope, I don't get frustrated. Children often don't understand things like God.
