Two choices: Get a bike, without a moter!
We invented Airplanes, jet airliners, computers, automobiles, we went to the moon. We are the inventers of the world.
Can't we come up with an alternative fuel? Propane which they used to use in cars and trucks. Was clean burning and didn't polute the enviroment and you can make it out of garbage waste.
They did it in Japan, over a septic tank, made a gas holding tank that ran cars. I know it was expermental but it worked.
They said that septic tanks generate enough gas by decomposeing to supply all the gas that the city would need including the cars. The larger the city the larger the septic system. They showed how to do it. The gas and oil companys bought them out. Even the corn and other field crops that tried to become a major source was stopped by the oil industry.
that had all houses with a garbage disposal system and everything else that went down the drain. Even using animal waste, it produced gas.

1. Insist that the federal government allow drilling for oil in America. This includes ANWAR, off the coast, whereever we can find it.

2. Insist that we deregulate the 50+ different blends of gas. 1 national standard. Any idea how expensive it is to have all these different blends.

3. Have a flat rate per gallon tax on gas. The government makes a lot more on a gallon than the oil companies.

4. Realize that these are not the highest gas prices ever. Adjusted to inflation,(which money about doubles every 10 years) the 1970's was much worse.

5. Eliminate laws that have prohibited new refineries for 30 years.

6. Have the federal government require Energy Star rated windows nationally. I live in the central region, according to the EPA. Requiring windows that just qualify for the rating would save someone 15-25% off their heating and cooling bills in CT. It costs $15-20 per window to add what is needed to qualify for the Energy Star rating. The government should make the Energy Star rating even tougher. All decent quality windows can qualify and then some. Even Home Depot sells windows that qualify and they sell crap.

6. Do you know that the huge spike happened when the government started requiring Ethanol over MTBE? There is insufficient supply of Ethanol to go around and the import tariffs are huge.

7. Educating Americans that these are the real problems. We are in a free market society and the oil companies have little to do with gas prices.

8. We can also take out Iran, Syria, North Korea, and their enablers. The President of Iran is on my list.

What consumer isn't fed up, but your question should be is why aren't comsumers using commom sense and start conserving the use of gas? There are many many ways that gas prices would be forced down but consumers aren't doing anything to help in bringing the prices down. If there was an old method used during WWII called "RATIONING", and if it was used today it also would certainly reduced gas prices. Can you imagine how much gas would be saved if kids in school would be forced to take a bus or ride a bike to school rather then the millions of cars they are using today? Sound reasoning and changes in the laws would readily reduce gas prices.

Buy less gasoline.

Pressure legislators to allow drilling in the US.
Pressure legislators to explore alternative fuels.
Pressure legislators to ease restrictions imposed by tree huggers.
Do without.
Suffer, gripe, ***** & moan. (This suggestion is for democrats and liberals only. Conservatives need not comply, but I am sure we will anyway.)

Drive less, drive smaller cars. If you consider what is the true value of gasoline, and what people in other countries have to pay, we are still getting off pretty cheap.

Find and implement an alternative fuel source. If Brazil can do it, why can't the US?

Just wait until the Iranian UN Sanctions start. Then you'll wish we were still paying $3/gallon.

We need to drill more, drill deeper, and look for alternatives in the mean time. We have the oil we but nonsense laws prevent us from drilling. I think it unwise to put trees and animals above the American people's energy needs not to mention global warming where there is still much speculation.

We are absolutely fed up. We pay around $8 a gallon in England, and it is crippling us. And rail fares are at least four times what they are in any other country of the world.

We are all going broke.

For one thing we are a nation of bigger is better. No one wants any limitations put on them. Therefore people will continue to complain about prices but will not change their lifestyles.
