My male cat (who IS neutered) sprays the laundry in the basement. Only In the basement to the laundry (dirty or clean) does he do this. WHY??? His litter box is clean, he's a good cat otherwise.

My male cat, who is also neutered, does spray on things from time to time, particularly when they are new, or in a different place. Eg: I'd never leave a suitcase on the living room floor overnight.
Try leaving the laundry on TOP of something, like in a basket on the washing machine/a table/a shelf. I found the problem was only if it was on the floor.
Sometimes he does it if he is mad, like if he wants extra food and I don't give it to him right away.
He was neutered at about 6-7 months as the vet had advised, but my mum says you have to do them younger, before they develp any of the antisocial (to us) habits.\
So.........maybe next time round!

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!

Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

I would think that if he spraying both clean and dirty laundry then the culprit is the location, i.e. the basement. There must be a smell that he is picking up on and he wants to spray something soft when he smells it . Keep him out of the basement unless you can isolate what he is smelling and neutralize it with vinegar.

He could have an infection, so you might go get a urine sample by collecting his urine from a litter box filled with plastic pellets (I think Pet Smart sells them) and take it to a vet for analysis. Other than that, I would recommend putting all the laundry in baskets up (if you can) and providing him with an interesting distraction down there, such as a sheepskin, away from the laundry area.

According to most vets, the problem of spraying usually becomes less of a problem after the cat has been neutered. However, if this behavior continues, then he needs to be receiving some type medication for hormonal treatment( testosterone imbalance). This medication should eliminate the problem.

I artwork at a vet hospital and can make it easier to comprehend definite neutered cats can nonetheless spray. by using neutering them the only ingredient it has bumped off are the testicles. The "spray" that they emit isn't something extra beneficial than urine that they expell to mark territory. in the experience that your cat has been neutered for an prolonged time he might have a blader an infection. which will reason cats to urinate in places different than their muddle field. He might desire to somewhat have a blockage in his urinary tract. it somewhat is amazingly severe so he desires to be seen by using a vet asap! in the experience that your cat became those days neutered then he won't end spraying basically using fact he's fastened. Cat's that are neutered whilst they are over a 300 and sixty 5 days previous have discovered that habit and neutering them does not continuously end it. Have him regarded at by using your vet basically in case. sturdy luck!

All Male Cats will spray to mark their territory. This will stop if you have him neutered. Believe me I found out the hard way! My Cat was sitting on my purse and I thought it was so cute. Later though, I found out that he had sprayed inside it. Boy, it was full. Stupid me let it happen again. 2 purses later, I had him spayed and it took care of that.

My cat does this too, I don't know why!! I just never leave any laundry out anymore. You also can get laundry containers with lids so they can't get in it.
