When I worked for Foodmaker, a subsidiary of Ralston Purina, and owner of Jack in the Box fast foods restaurants and many others, made hamburgers from imported beef plate and a tougher cut wixed with soy. At the time it was not legal to put soy in meat in NY, although it is a good protein source. The fatty meat and tough meat was ground and patties made.None of this makes it synthetic.
